    This is the latest generation of energy saving televisions, we have had it a fortnight after waiting 2 months for them to come into the country, got our from costco as they have the 5 year granatee and the cast iron return poilcy plus they where the cheapest at under £1350. It is really light to carry and amazing thin under 3 cm , the brochure in comparision is very comprehehensive and large although in reality it is a breeze to set up and scanns for the channels we where watching it within 5 minutes, both freeeview, dvd player and sky.     Bought the PS50 42" TV. Looks fantastic in black. Exactly 18 months after buying the TV, it went bang and would not trun on again Spoke to Samsung and complained that this was a £1000 TV and I was not happy that it is not working. Samsung replied that they sold the warrantly to Currys and that they take no reponsibily for any parts or faults. I replied that the TV was faulty and shodily made. They replied that it is not there problem, talk to Currys. Currys told me to call Samsung! or get a TV engineer out at £150 to make a report which they would then consider.     Advantages Advantages Very slim tv and pc connectivity is a great adavantage to increase choice of media available

    Disadvantages Disadvantages If you are not good with technology, may need nephew or niece to help you out.

    The picture and colour are so sharp, its hard to tell the difference between Samsung 8000 series and plasma tv. I love the Internet@TV - Content Service, I regularly use it to go onto YouTube. Navigation is easy and simple using widgets from the TV's remote . I have connected my pc using the wireless option (or you can plug it directly) which enables streamed access to photos, music and movies. The design and the exterior colour adds stylish decor to your room. I like the stand but it can be wall mounted. The black lighting reacts slowly sometimes giving patchy black areas.     Having worked in the graphics industry I believe that picture quality and color quality is everything! Picture quality in terms of resolution is great and provides excellent value for its money. However resolution isnt everything. The Samsung UE40B8000 has a great color contrast! Most buyers tend to not notice color quality. It is always important to view the TV such as this in a store before purchasing it online. I suggest viewing the screen, moving to a screen with a lower color contrast and then moving back.     Advantages Advantages Smart. Nice picture. Particularly the low res pics off cable TV and presumably Sat.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages DLNA implmentation poor for video.

    Recently bought the 40 inch 8 series UE40B8000. Happy with the TV except the media player capability. DLNA video does not pause, fwd or rew so is useless. You need a hack to enable access to smb or nfs shares which then allow the facility (as if using a usb drive). Even worse, your ripped dvd video or any anamorphic format file will not scale full screen. According to the Samsung guy on tecnet forum this is because anamorphic format are not common in the US market (so tough). See the lengthy pleas in the forum falling on deaf, then belligerent, ears. To fix this needs a more invasive hack ... more
