Being a complete MP3 player virgin it was with some trepidation that I opened the box at Christmas. I couldn't believe that somebody had bought me one and immediately thought it would be way too complicated and that I would never use it!! How wrong was I?
When I unpacked the box I was surprised at how easy it was to put all the bits together and immediately managed to get the radio working. I was amazed at the quality of the sound ... ...now couldn't wait until I got home to try loading some CD's onto it.
I was a little nervous when I first plugged it into my laptop, but the software that came with it made loading CD's a cinch. I couldn't believe how easy it was and that I could now have my own portable CD library.

I was amazed at the quality of the sound and just how crisp and clear it was. I now couldn't wait until I got home to try loading some CD's onto it.
I was a little nervous when I first plugged it into my laptop, but the software that came with it made loading CD's a cinch. I couldn't believe how easy it was and that I could now have my own portable CD library.
Right, now for the technical bits. It has 512mb built in memory and supports MP3 and WMA audio formats. It has a backlit display and a built in FM radio. It has a 20 hour playback time and it takes a AAA battery. You do need Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP and a Pentium 200Mhz or more processor, but I think most people have that nowadays. It comes with a carry case, a neck strap and a USB lead for people whose ports are recessed. It's a nice pale blue in colour and also comes with a CD-rom of the software you need to rip your CD's onto it. You can get upgrades for the built in programs from www.samsung.com, but I haven't needed to do that as yet.
They retail from between £90 - £100.00 from most High Street electrical stores but you can currently buy it on e-Bay for £59.99, what a bargain!!
I have gone from being a complete MP3 player novice to an expert in no time at all and now don't go anywhere without it. The only problem I had with it is that the headphones made my ears hurt at first, but I think that was just because I had never worn them before as now they are fine.
So, it's easy to use, small enough to fit in your pocket or handbag and looks really cool. I would recommend it to everyone, go on treat yourself!!
