I have just bought this MP3 recently but i have fallen in love with it straight away!!
To start with the look, its all black and ultra-thin (yet still feels durable and strong) giving it a very cool modern look, when you touch the keypad, (there are no actual buttons, its done by touch) it lights up blue making it look very futuristic, the only downside of the keypad is that you have to pull out the unit from your pocket everytime you want to change the track or volume etc. as you can not feel around for the buttons because there are none!. It has a TFT colour screen, (MP3's are moving into the mobile phone phase of being in colour). The only down side to the desing is that fingerprints stick out the moment you touch it making the unit look dirty and i find myself constantly trying to clean them of and i have also found that the back panel easily scratches which is annoying, it would of been helpful if Samsung provided a case but i guess accessories are just another money making scheme for them!
The actual MP3 is easy to navigate, once turned on you have 4 options, Music, Radio, Photos or Settings. Settings include cool screensaver animations and the ability to set volume limits and the function of allowing the display to switch of after a certain time to prevent the battery from draining. The radio reception is great, even when you are moving around. The K3 also allows you to upload your pictures on to it, which is again similar to mobile phones these days! The volume is exceptional with excellent bass and a bass boost option to really bring it out. The earphones provided are excellent, much better than some standard headphones provided with other MP3 players i have had, they provide excellent sound quality and look good just like the MP3 itself.
The only thing you must be wary of when purchasing the K3 is that your computer must run on Windows XP or higher which is something i found out about a little to late as my computer that has all my music on is currently running Windows ME so i had to transfer all my music through my laptop. This brings me onto the transferring software, you have to you Samsung media studio which is provided with the unit, it is extremely easy to use, you just import you music or photos from the folders on your computer onto the media studio library and then its speedily transfers to the MP3, i transferred around 400 songs in about 5 minutes. If you transfer photos, the media studio automatically resizes them before transferring them onto the MP3 once again saving you a lot of work.
The MP3 charges through your computer, however you do require the USB cable unlike other MP3's that plug straight in. The K3 admitedly is not the faster thing to charge, the manual says it can take up to 4 hours, however i did find it reality it to be slightly quicker. The battery life is excellent and last many hours even with the volume blarring!!!
In conclusion i think the K3 is excellent and one of the best MP3's i have ever owned, (and i have owned quite a few). The K3 comes close to being a mobile phone with its colour screen, music, radio and picture viewing capabilites but it is made specifcally for music and i have not seen a phone on the market that can beat its sound quality! I think that this is a good alternative to the iPod which i am not a big fan of myself! I would definately recommend it to all those music enthusiasts who like their music on the go and appreciate good design and fashion as the K3 is very fashinable as are most of Samsungs line of MP3's (especially after their appearance in the Pussy Cat Dolls video)!!!

Nice review. I've been keeping an eye out for a non Apple MP3 player. I think i may have found it.

Good review, I just got the 2 gig version. One note, you don't have to use the samsung software, but if the files are already in MP3 format, just drag them over to the drive, just like a hard drive.
