I got this device when it was first released in the UK and I can definitely recommend it. It is the best phone currently on the market in Britain. Its much better than an iPhone or the Nokia N96.
Advantages
The 8 megapixel camera has good optics and really does produce great images.
Slow motion 120FPS mode on the camera is interesting, if a little gimmicky.
8GB or 16GB of memory built in, with a memory card slot to add more if you want to.
The optical joystick (the central button works like a mouse) is also great for web browsing.
It runs Symbian Series 60v3 FP2, the same as Nokia N-series and E-series, so practically any application that works on say a N95 or E90 will run on this phone.
The keypad is very easy to use and text on, much better than a touchscreen device. The keys are large and easy to press.
The quality of the music player is very good, it also has a 3.5MM headphone jack (same as iPod etc) so you wont need any special headphones, although some very good headphones are included anyway.
The battery life is excellent, much better than the N95
The GPS works well and obtains a lock quickly
Standard "MicroUSB" charging and data connection, no silly custom connection.
USB charging as standard
All cables (except TV out) included)
There's lots of other very nice little features, however due to the flexibility of the Symbian OS, it would be impossible to list them all.
Disadvantages
The screen is reflective, so it can be difficult to see in strong light sometimes. Its never really much of a problem to me though.
There is no screen saver as such, the screen goes off completely to save power when not in use. Some people may call this an advantage.
Applications created by Nokia (such as Sports Tracker) cannot be installed even though they are technically compatible as Nokia has blocked them from installing, this could well be worked around in the future.
No included full user manual, only a quick start guide. You must download the manual from the Samsung website, although I doubt you'd need it anyway to be honest.
FIFA 08 and Asphalt 3 racing included, aswell as other useful apps.
Luckily, Samsung has included a feature to update the software on the phone, so little bugs and problems can always be fixed easily later on with a quick update.
Only major issue
Some of the early batches of this phone allow dust to get inside the screen, this gets very annoying with time and the only way to fix it is to replace the phone.
Overall
This is a very good phone. Despite its downsides it is still the best phone on the market. If you have the cash, you should buy one!
Keep in mind it is available in 8GB and 16GB editions, and they both have a MicroSD memory card slot so you can add an extra amount of memory (up to an extra 16GB so far) to your phone by buying a memory card. The 8GB and 16GB editions of the phone are (apart from difference in memory size) completely identical.
