For around £10 this 2GB USB flash drive is capable of holding hundreds of music tracks, hundreds of documents and images as well as videos and other media files. I have used this pen for quite a while ... ...even though it contains all of my college work which is graphic-intense, full of documentation and video clips. I also store some small downloads on my pen which is perfect for swapping files between PCs.

For around £10 this 2GB USB flash drive is capable of holding hundreds of music tracks, hundreds of documents and images as well as videos and other media files. I have used this pen for quite a while and it is no where near full (not even half!), even though it contains all of my college work which is graphic-intense, full of documentation and video clips. I also store some small downloads on my pen which is perfect for swapping files between PCs.
Ok, as a low-down of this product here are the main benefits you get:
* A hi-speed USB connection which allows very fast transfers of files (providing your USB ports are capable). This is achieved by simply plugging your pen in and you're away in seconds.
* A rather cool looking flash drive without the need for a lid (which you have to admit you always end up losing!). The USB pen itself slides in and out of its protective "shell" allowing the user to quickly whip it out when required or guard it when not needed. However, I did find the slide action a bit temperamental and it occasionally slipped back in when trying to push the pen into a USB socket.
* Lanyard for securing the item around your neck (apparently, mine failed to have one included...)
* U3 software compliant
* An included bundle of software including:
- Cruzersync - a program allowing users to to easily and securely (using encryption) access, edit and restore ALL their personal files (productivity documents, audio and video files, bookmarks etc.),
- Skype - A free program allowing users to make calls to each other free of charge.
- SignupShield password manager
As you can see you do get quite a bit on top...so apart from having a large storage capacity, being small and low priced get quite a lot for your money. If this isn't enough the pen comes preinstalled with U3 capabilities which effectively is used to run U3 compliant software straight from your USB pen, therefore there is no need to feel restricted to one PC since you can take your applications with you! At the moment you are restricted to the number of available U3 programs on the market, but more and more are being created meaning the possibilities are endless.
Overall we have a great product which both delivers good results in the aesthetic department as well as the technological, a great buy!

...I bought my 2 GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive for £14.99 after my last USB storage device started to corrupt all of my files when trying to save onto it.
The flash drive is very plain, my model being a lovely silver colour with the usual UBS connection and ridged underside to allow easy grip making it simple to insert and remove from my computers USB port. It is fairly small in size as is only 2.6" long and 0.75" wide. It also comes with a cap and ... ...look forward to using it for many more months to come. If it does eventually give up the ghost I'd be happy to have another similar purchase and certainly will not be going back to Hyperdrive for my storage needs. It's Sandisk all the way from now on for me. ...

Advantages: Looks good, U3 capability - Carry your applications with you, Cheap Disadvantages: U3 doesn't always work at school or work
I recently purchased my SanDisk Cruzer Micro from eBay, as it was one of the cheapest brand-names available. Another thing that attracted me to this particular drive is the U3 capability. U3 is a new capability which allows usb drives to hold not only files and data, but also a variety of applications such as the Firefox browser, OpenOffice, Skype but also some games like Sudoku!
This great idea is fantastic if you work with multiple computers, ... ...not be able to use your own applications.
Another great feature about the USB drive is the retractable connnector. With a quick slide on top of the drive, you can pull the connector back into the drive which eradicates the need for lids that often get misplaced.
I also like the modern look of the drive. the main part is a matt black colour, with glossy edges.
One disadvantage however, is that although the U3 capability is very useful, the applications ...

Firstly this USB drive is quite small, it looks good and as soon as you plug it in a big orange light starts up, it doesn’t have a cap (so you won't lose the cap!) and comes with a neck strap.
The USB data transfer is quite fast, there is not much lag and the computer immediately picks up that the USB stick is plugged in. However as soon as you plug in the stick then it starts to install the U3 software on the PC, this could annoy some people ... ...free portable ap’s and can synchronise the USB with the PC using this, its a useful feature and also includes some security features, preventing nosey people looking through your files.
The U3 software also has an instruction manual/tour on it, preventing the need for there to be any paper manuals with the device.
The 2GB of space on this USB stick is very large for such a small USB stick, however with U3 installed you only get around 1.8gb ...

Software
Being U3 drives, they come with a suite of software, some preinstalled (I believe a password store is one of the default programmes), some free to download (the OpenOffice Suite) and some which you pay for. All the software is available to download via links the USB pen itself.
I was also surprised to find, after upgrading to Windows Vista from XP, that the USB pen works no problem with Vista.
If you don't want to use this pen as a U3 drive, you can uninstall the software on the USB pen and use it as a normal USBdrive. You can also turn off the password protect feature, if this is not needed.
Conclusion
All in all, I've found the SanDiskCruzerMicro U3 drives to be excellent devices. I think the 2GB version was less than £10, which is not the cheapest 2GBdrive out there, but for durability I'm happy to pay it. I ...
