Advantages: Good quality sound, nice design, cheap Disadvantages: dull plastic cover, plain menu
Product description
The SanDiskSansa Fuze is a good quality mp3 player with built in FM radio, photo viewer and video playback. It is simiilar in design to an iPod but is a much more affordable player.
The Design
This is quite a small mps player as it measures around 3 inches long by 2 inches wide. It isn't as thin as some though and is around a third of an inch thick. The fact that the width is two thirds of the length gives it a bit of a fat oval look that may out some people off. However, It fits comfortably in your hand and feels more "solid" than some of the thinner, smaller mp3's available. A main design point that stands out is the clickable, scroll wheel. These are appearing on many cheap iPod rip offs and used to be put me off because they made them look cheap and unreliable. This is not the case with the Fuze ...
Advantages: Much easier to use than ipod/itunes, better sound, better software Disadvantages: Not as many accessories as ipod
stations.
I use my Sansa at home, plugged into my hifi via a 3.5mm audio cable from the players earphone socket, into a Line In input on my hifi, this works just fine, however I have just ordered a Sansa Docking Station (£32), which keeps the Sansa charged, and comes with it's own remote control, so you can change tracks etc without having to touch the player.
Overall, very highly recommended, and far superior to ipod nano.
Recently replaced my 4gbSansa with a new 8gb Version 2 model, main difference being that 'V2' models can take the newer High Capacity micro SD cards, so I have an 8gb card in mine, giving an overall capacity of 16gb, brilliant. I love these players.
Update on the docking station, it works brilliantly, let down slightly by the poor quality 3.5mm to 2 phono cable to connect the item to a hifi. I have replaced this ...
Advantages: Small, cheap, capacity can be expanded, radio record feature Disadvantages: Only supplied with USB charger, no clip, have to use their software to upload videos and photos
caught my eye and were within budget. One of the great things about shopping on the internet is the ability it gives you to read reviews from people who have bought in the past, and this ruled out a few models on the grounds of "cheap rubbish".
I kept being drawn towards the Sansa Fuze from SanDisk however - the price was within my budget and the features were what I was looking for. Online reviews were generally very positive. Moreover, it was available in red, which is my daughter's favourite colour!
I consulted my daughter about the aesthetics (which are all she cares about) and received the thumbs up, so I ordered one on the Argos website and duly picked it up the next day. It cost £48.69 and came with a 3" CD-ROM, a USB cable, earphones, a black protective case and the player. There was also a "mini" user guide which is useful to get ...
