The SanDisk Sansa Express 1 GB was released in the U.K in 2007, SanDisk are famous for producing affordable, cable free and flash-based MP3 players. The Sansa Express 1 GB MP3 player looks rather simple but its range of features are astonishing, regarding how much you can buy one for.
One of its most notable features is the built in voice recorder. With its 1 GB internal flash memory you will easily be able to record 1000 minutes of sounds, which will not be a major priority for MP3 buyers. It has a USB 2.0 interface, which simply means that it connects to desktop PC's via a USB connection.
The great thing about this MP3 player is that you can directly connect it to a desktop PC or laptop without the need of a cable. So if you visit a friends house and you want to transfer some of their music onto your MP3 player, you simply connect the MP3 player to the PC and transfer the files. Transfer is simple because as soon as you connect your MP3 player to a laptop or PC, the target folder is opened automatically for you to transfer the necessary files. If the MP3 players target folder does not open automatically you can access it via 'My Computer' on Microsoft Operating systems. The MP3 player file name should read 'Removable Disk ("K"), if not it may read the MP3 players actual name. If you still cannot find the folder, click on all the folders, which say Removable Disk followed by a letter.
The built-in display is an O.L.E.D, which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. The display uses organic compounds to display the information, the use of organic materials leads to eco-friendly results. O.L.E.D displays are a more cost-effective alternative to regular L.E.D displays as they require less energy to run. It is said that O.L.E.D displays are much better for the environment and are now being used in Televisions and other output devices.
The supported audio formats are: WAV, WMA, Audible, MP3, protected WMA (DRM). The sound output is stereo, which basically means that the MP3 player uses 2 loudspeakers placed symmetrically (side by side) to produce a pleasant and natural impression of sound. You get a standard 3.5 mm head phone jack along with some standard head phones, although much better ones can be purchased separately. A maximum of 15 hours audio playback is possible. The O.L.E.D display has no great affect on the battery life.
Like on most MP3 players, you can access your music portfolio via categories that include Albums and Artists. You can also create your very own Play list. The display only consists of 2 colours, although when the screen is off you can see that the MP3 players surface is mirror-like which means that it can be utilized as a mirror. Another great thing about the MP3 player is its size, which makes it useful when out and about or if you decide to go to the gym and want some form of entertainment.
The SanDisk Sansa Express 1 GB will only work on Microsoft Operating System's such as Windows XP and Vista. In addition to the Operating system you will also need Windows Media Player 10.0 or higher. Although other programs can be used such as the Real and Quicktime players. It is also necessary to have a CD-ROM drive on your PC to install the MP3 players software, however you can transfer music onto your MP3 player without the software via 'My Computer'.
You also get the standard 1 year guarantee. You can buy this very MP3 player for as low as £15 either in online shops or regular electronics stores.
Overall, I think this MP3 player is a low-cost alternative to other MP3 players and as it uses an O.L.E.D display it is more 'environmentally friendly'. If you are looking for an MP3 player, which is reliable, can hold a decent amount of songs and is affordable than the SanDisk Sansa Express 1 GB MP3 player is the one for you. With the 1 GB internal memory a maximum of 250-300 songs can be held, depending on the average file size of your music files. If you use compressed music files than maybe 500-700 songs can be held, but let me stress that the quality of the music file is downgraded with the compression.
