Sanex Dermo Protector Shower Gel

I've had experience of using a few different types of Sanex shower gels. I was first attracted to them because I had this idea that they were "natural" in the sense that they worked with your skin, and they often tend not to be strongly perfumed, which is something I tend to avoid with all personal hygiene products.

I started using Sanex when I spent the summer in a very hot european country and as a result I had to shower up to 3 times a day! Using shower gel in such a climate was necessary, and initially I went for the 750ml "Dermo Purifying" one which is a clear blue gel in a semi-transparent bottle which cost around £2-£3. The bottle design is very easy to use - there is a push cap opening which allows easy opening/closing and dispensing of the gel. I used this gel for 3 months, and the effect on my skin was great. It looked better, smoother, felt more supple, and I honestly believed that it was healthier.

I had to buy a new bottle in the 4th month (into the Autumn months), and since I was so impressed with the results of the dermo purifying gel, I bought another Sanex bottle, this time the "Dermo Protector" which is a thick white gel in a white bottle. Using this gel for the next 3 months, I didn't find it as good as the dermo purifying one. It's not the case that the condition of my skin deteriorated drastically, but I found it not to be as soft and supple, with the occasional dry patch. On discovering this, I bought another bottle of Sanex Dermo Purifying and used this alternately with the Dermo Protector.

Currently I am using Sanex Dermo Skin Energy, which is an orange gel in a 500ml semi-transparent bottle for 99p in Superdrug. This gel is thicker than both of the other ones I've used, not a consistency I particularly like. The gel is enriched with vitamin C and claims to revistalise and stimulate the skin, and has a stronger smell than the other 2 gels which I don't like. I have to say I've not been too happy with the results at the moment since my skin seems to have dry patches all over. I have to admit though, I have not been using this gel as regularly as I used the others and the condition of my skin could simply be due to the harsher weather of the winter months.

My final comparision of the gels is probably affected by the season in which I used them. In the summer months, my skin was great and I honestly was very pleased with the results of the Sanex Dermo Purfying gel. Even continuing to use this into the Autumn months, and switching to the Sanex Dermo Protector, I was happy with the gels as they did they job they were intended to do and did not have any offensive or strong perfumed smell. However, I am led to believe that the condition of anyone's skin is also influenced by the seasons, and so I don't necessarily trust the claims of Sanex, no matter how happy I was using the gels.

Next on my list is to try out the Sanex Dermo Moisturising gel, and I will update this review once I have tested it out.

In comparison with other leading shower gels on the market though, I really personally prefer Sanex as the other gels tend to dry out the skin much more.
