Upon arrival, i opened the box to discover the machine, a remote control, a pair of batteries for the remote, a set of

My wife bought this player from a mail order club for sixty four pounds, although it can be obtained for just under sixty pounds on average. Her reason for buying was to have a DVD player in the bedroom.
Upon arrival, i opened the box to discover the machine, a remote control, a pair of batteries for the remote, a set of audio video leads and a quite small but comprehensive instruction manual.
The machine itself is a nice small size, being only 14 inches ( 35cms.) wide and 2 inches ( 5cms.) high. It is quite an attractive machine, with a silvery grey case and a black fascia with silver control buttons.
All of the usual features of a DVD player are there, including Dolby digital decoder. On the rear panel are Optical digital and coaxial digital outputs and an audio/video output for which the cables are supplied. There is also a scart socket, but no scart lead is included.
As for playback, i found this to be a very competant machine given it's price, although i did find it a little noisy when first playing the disc. That said, the noise does not last for long and does not interfere with the viewing pleasure.
The picture quality is very good for a cheap player and the sound is good, too. Overall i would say that this is one of the better low price DVD players on the market and worthy of consideration. You can also play your CD's on it, but do not expect hi-fi quality sound, you won't get it!! It is also mp3 compatible, but with the same reservations about sound as before.
Please bear in mind, though, that this machine is primarily intended for playing DVD's and this it does very well with a good quality picture and more than acceptable sound.
Thoroughly recommended as a good quality, low price DVD player.
