Advantages: Excellent quality pictures, Useful wide angle range. Good build quality. Disadvantages: No lens hood, Not compatible with all EOS cameras
Introduction
The Canon EF-S 10-22mmf3.5-f4.5 USM lens is a high quality wide-angle zoomlens that is ideal for landscape, architectural and interior photography.
It is designed to be used with all Canon EOS cameras with an APS-C sized censor and an EF-S lens mount, it cannot be used with Canon full frame or film cameras, also some older EOS models will not accept this lens either.
To see if your camera is compatible with this lens, check your camera for the following.
All Canon EOS cameras have a red spot on the lens mount to denote the lens alignment for EF mount lenses, check to see if your camera has an additional white spot to denote the lens alignment for EF-S mount lenses, if it does, then this lens will fit.

Advantages: Build quality. Finish. Range. Fast maximum aperture. Disadvantages: Image quality not as good as expected. Chromatic Aberration.
removed whenever you choose to use the lens hand-held.
Being an EX DG lens, it is suitable for use on either FF (Full-Frame) or APS-C cropped sensor cameras when it effectively behaves like a 105-300mmf/2.8 (on Nikon APS-C), 112-320mmf/2.8 (on Canon APS-C) or 119-340mmf/2.8 on Sigma DSLR cameras. These make interesting options on the APS-C size sensor cameras and it can be assumed the camera has a completely different set of values when used with such cameras to those when used on full-frame. Interesting?
The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture provides great fun for shallow DOF (depth-of-field) shots where particularly at the 200mm end of the zoom, depth-of-field is excitingly shallow. Whilst the lens is referred to as 'macro' within it's descriptive title, the term is used somewhat loosely. True macro lenses provide genuine 1 to 1 life ...
Advantages: Beautiful bokeh, tack-sharp, vibration reduction, easy to use, many useful accessories Disadvantages: heavy, expensive, slight vignetting, prone to flaring
's and sport photography. On a digital camera with a DX-sensor, this is far less of a problem, as the range on these camera's will be 105-300mm. Should that not meet your demands, there are other possibilities?
---Accessories---
If you do not feellike buying an extensive collection of lenses, or you wish to utilize the quality of the 70-200 completely, you can choose to increase the range using a teleconverter. Nikon has developed a 1.4x and a 2x teleconvertor specifically for this lens. Using these, the lens suddenly becomes a 91-280mmF4 lens(1.4x), or a 140-400mmF5.6 lens on a full-frame camera. Obviously, this range is even longer on a DX-camera.
Even though the maximum aperture decreases by using teleconverters, the drop in quality is surprisingly small. This certainly is worth it in case you do not wish to buy even longer lenses.
