The most important criterion at the purchase decision for a digital camera is well the image quality. This is adjustable at this camera. There are 4 steps with different resolutions. The smallest resolution is 640 x 480 pixels. The quality of the pictures is relatively then poor of course. This mode is imaginary for the Internet since pictures posed to the web shall take up only a low amount of data often. 1600 are the next and 2288 . x 1200 (2 megapixel) x 1712 (4 Medapixel) higher step is scheduled and predefined for 4 megapixel than a level type resolution. The highest and qualitatively best step is 8 megapixel (3264 x 2448). Unfortunately, I must say from my own experience that the automatic exposure time of the camera is too long. This has the consequence that close-ups blur primarily very easily. The fact that the exposure time is adjustable in a low extent also changes nothing to this. This problem only can be cleared when one switches on the lightning since this adjusting shortens the exposure time still further.

Motive choice mode:

Here the possibility admits different attitudes voting for a certain motive. It gives to establish the possibility, everything automatically and special attitudes for busy photos, close-ups, landscape photos, night photos, photographs of fireworks, pictures with sepia bwz. Black white contrast, combined photos and passport photos. Due to the rather long end solving delay of approx. 1.5 seconds the firework mode is actually senseless. One never meets the moment which one would like to hold tight. The matching complex function however works very well. The outlines in which the photographed person shall be are represented in the monitor. The camera then trains 6 passport photos in 2 verscheidenen from this standardized sizes automatically.

Resolution:

There is the possibility in the menu item resolution of voting between 4 steps as mentioned above already. 8, 4 and 2 megapixel and the web mode with a resolution of 300,000 microdots. The effective number of microdots is 4 megapixel so that the step is actually nonsensical with the resolution of 8 mega-pixels. There are 2 steps, 320 x 240 pixels and 160 x 120 pixels, in the video mode in which both strong quality defects show. The maximum modulating frequency amounts to 15 pictures in a second

Focus menu:

The focus menu offers the 4 to point photo with autofocus, approaching on-names distance photos and photos with a manually adjustable focus for very near objects. The latter is very practical since neither the mode for close-ups nor the Aotufokus can take objects sharply which are nearer than 20 cm remote from the objective. The pictures also would otherwise go with autofocus to a sharp photo. For this menu item even one admits extra button to simplify the operation.

Further functions:

The menu also offers theoretically the possibility of taking series pictures in which this does not work and therefore is invalid. In the Kompriemierungsmenü one can in which one can distinguish strongly and little between only adjust as the pictures are compressed strongly. Furthermore the camera also offers the user the possibility of stopping the white comparison. Depending on a way of the light source one can adjust different modes although leave on, this attitude automatically I recommend since every change has a terrible colouring of the picture the consequence.

The design is very attractive in my opinion. The camera is relatively smally and with 140 g also very light and handy with measures of 91.3 x 61.5 x 30.8 mm (B/H/T). It is silver with dull and shiny areas. I find the small spitting gel over the objective particularly worth mentioning on the left. One can envisage himself with the help of this mirror if one liked to shoot a "self-portrait".

The operation is rather simple. One reaches the main screen by with the menu key one moving with the help of the Cursertasten. The trigger and the one switching button is on the top side. With the zoom lens buttons one can adjust the size of the object on the later photo. The operating instructions are very detailed. Every layman copes with the device with ample outlines and extensive operation explanations straight off.

This camera is very energy-saving. A pair of AA accumulators with a performance of 2050 mAh stops approx. 4 hours. With normal batteries one comes approximately onto the same duration. The device also has an energy reduction mode, this one one for an even lower electricity consumption add-on can optionally.

A CD is in the extent of supply with the USB driver software for Windows98 and further software. A very good photo processing program (Ulead photo Explorer 8.0), the Mediaplayer of QuickTime and a video processing program are under it named motion director with whom one can create a panorama picture from a video.

The screen is a 1.8 " TFT liquid crystal screen monitor. This has a resolution of approx. 85,000 microdots which suffice for looking at the taken pictures completely.

Visual zoom zoom in the camera unfortunately has only a low of at most //num(2,8) fach//. Zoom blows up at most the digital by //num(4) fach//.

I have been satisfied with this digital camera for one and a half years because it is very easy to use, handy and rich to functions. Deficits are the both great the long end solving delay of about 1.5 s and the Unschärfe of the close-ups without lightning. The accessories are equipped richly, primarily is the software package, the instruction manual almost uniquely its exhaustiveness and the electricity consumption is also low, what a longer possible makes work.
