Advantages: Great value for money Disadvantages: the 256mb version isnt available for pci-bus, and this isnt a pci express
Well i suppose i better start with the technical info well this has 128mb of grapics capabilities, and supports flat pannel monitors (i cant find another pci-bus graphics card that does) supports dirext X 8.1 and 9 which is great as it will run the lates games like doom3, lord of the rings the battle fo rmiddle earth series. Now on to my experiances first of all the speed of this graphics is powerful enough to run the latest games like i said above no much else i can say about that. The stability well i have had it for about a year and hav not had a single problem with it so i would say that it is extreamly stable and with that said on to the next. ease of instaliation well it couldnt be easier as the instruction booklet (when you find the english section) give stp by step instructions on how to remove/disable your old graphics card (remove if graphics card is in expasion slot and disable if you have onbord graphics) and then tells you how to install the graphics card (if you need help feel free to contact me took me 15 mins to install) so preaty easy if you follow instructions. picture quality, as it is only a 128mb i feel that it runs the lastest game at an exceptable level (not on high detail but not on low either). 128mb is a good upgrade if you have an older machine (dosent support pci-e or agp) as it means that you can finally play that game you couldnt. manufacturer support is good but not overly great as if you loose the disc than you can have troube finding the driver updates. thanks for reading my review i hope it helped you to decide to buy or not to buy.
Advantages: Its 256. GTA Works, Windows Vista Works. Disadvantages: Its not PCI-e, but just old AGP.
I bought my SapphireRadeon9250 from Maplin in September 2006. I had just upgraded from a GeFORCE4 MX-440 128mb card that was annoyingly incompatible with a lot of software. I decided to get the 256mb version as it didn?t cost too much more than the 128. This was in the days before PCI-Express and the new range of graphics card to hit the market.
This card has since been WAY surpassed by newer models, but I?ll write this review keeping in mind it was once the latest release from ATI.
Once installed in my AGP slot, this card needed the driver CD in Windows XP (some do, some don?t) and a quick reboot. The card has a connector for your normal 15-pin VGA monitor, an S-Video connector and a DVI connector too.
As with any PC component, it only works at its best if everything else can keep up. Well I don?t consider my PC to be that state ...
Advantages: An amazing card for its price, would highly reccommend Disadvantages: Not really suitable for high end gamers
Sapphire are well renown for producing very high quality AGP cards and they folow that path here! I have since upgraded from this card but let me tell you even now i would recommend this card to anyone looking to upgrade significantly for under £40.
Firstly the 256Mb is pleanty of graphics memory and would give a huge leap in performance to anyone upgrading from a PC with integrated graphics on their mainboard.
Although not sufficient to play the latest games in high graphic modes it does a great job for the money, i played games such as Warhammer: Dawn of war quite happily on high settings, and fast racing games such as Trackmania: Sunrise look fantastic thanks to this great performance card, where as before these games would have bought my PC to a grinding halt.
This card never failed me, and never crashed on me once
Easy ...
