Review of Sapphire RADEON X1950 XT

X1650PRO

Advantages: Fast, Affordable
Disadvantages: None.

Wow, What a lovely card! And thank god for that. I had to find a graphics card for my downstairs PC as I bought a 7600GS that didn't work?. Boohoo. I won't review that card as I know it works on most computers just my one didn't so I don't think it's fair I review it. This card however- well installed it and bingo! Games work. The problem with the 7600 was that 3D applications wouldn't work. So I went back to my norm and stuck with ATi- I've never gone wrong with them. The X1650Pro is the step up form the X1600 and it has 512MB of RAM. I'm not too sure of the differences between the two but I'm sure this one is faster and has its 512mb of RAM. This enables your games to run smoother and faster. The clock speed is fast and I won't bore you with the details of that but its fast. The cooling on this chip is done by a fan. It is ...

Review of Connect3D Radeon X1650 Pro

Sapphire Radeon 9600XT Review

Advantages: Price, value for money, performance
Disadvantages: Not for the advanced gamer

Introduced as one of radeons mid-high end products, the Radeon 9600xt was originally aimed at the user on a budget, who still required good performance out of moderate applications. Featuring exactly the same functionality and system performance as the 9600 PRO, XT is based on the RV360 chip. Coupled with cooling, and superior memory, ATI's major downfall came with the memory speed of only 300MHZ. Although to be fair, they have laxed this and allowed 25MHZ increases only recently. Using the latest and fatest AGP 8X, the most can be experienced from some of the latest games. After an attempt running DOOM3 with the card, I experienced VERY smooth gameplay, however there are slight stutters when it comes to large open environment rendering scenes, for example 9600XT has a hell of a hard time trying to keep up with Far ...
