Goodnight John Boy!
Review of Italy Hotel Club Calabona, Alghero by
jo145
Advantages: Good base, close to sea.
Disadvantages: Over run by Saga members
Do you remember the the Waltons? For those who are too young it was set on a farm, in America. The family were very family orientated and at night all of them called out Goodnight to each other. John Boy was the name of one of the sons.
Sardinia is such a beautiful island that we decided to return and explore more of the island last September. We organised a fantastic apartment and booked flights to Alghero, which was on the opposite side of the ... ...Arriving early morning, we had all day to drive to the east coast and enjoy the scenery, but decided to spend a few days at Alghero before returning home. Having browsed the hotels on the internet, we settled on the Hotel Calabona, which was on the edge of the town and we were planning to drive south before crossing to the west coast it should be easy to find!
Wonderful! It was so easy to find as we came along the coast road from Bosa, we turned ...

Wonderful accommodation, great facilities
Review of La Pineta, Pula by
annaf18
Advantages: SPA, wonderful accommodation, great facilities
Disadvantages: beach quite overcrowded in august
We got advice from our travel agent's (Design Holidays) and after reading a lot of reviews on the Net, we chose Forte Village for our two weeks in Sardinia.
Wonderful accommodation, great facilities, and all in the middle of breathtaking scenery. The sea is just spectacular and in the evenings we were able to choose between going out and having fun in the "village square" or simply stay in our chalet and just chill out.
What we appreciated the ... ...unlike other resorts where you almost feel it's your 'duty' to have fun.
With a small child (age 3) we were also able to make use of the childrens' services , which meant we could spend 3 days having treatments done at the resort SPA!
We'll definitely be back, I think its the ideal place for a great family holiday. ...

Unbeliveably poor. Beware
Review of Grand Hotel Colonna Capo Testa, Capo Testa by
JN24
Advantages: On the beach
Disadvantages: everything else
I don't think I've ever written a bad review on anything before but I had to share my experience on this hotel. Rustic is how I would sum up the whole hotel. I don't know where to begin! Our 'superior deluxe' room was neither superior nor deluxe despite the great view over the (crowded) beautiful beach. We went to look for private villas for the first 2 days to try get some luxury back into our holiday but failed so decided to make the most of the ... ...a look at the exec and normal suites - both of which looked bigger but just as basic (you did get 2 tvs!!). This would be at a ridiculous cost as well - an additional £2k for 6 days! The haphazard Fabio on reception (lovely but basically Mr Fawlty) accidentally let out the suites on the morning we were going to swap rooms, so we were moved to another (slightly better) superior deluxe. In my time there I saw 4 other couples complaining about the rooms ...

Sardinia - It's not where Sardines are from!
Review of Il Querceto Hotel, Nuoro by
beevorm
Advantages: Small Family Hotel, Beautiful Area, True Italian Family Life
Disadvantages: Little English Spoken, No On-Site Activities, No Dinner Menu
I was lucky enough to go to Sardinia a couple of years ago now, and wanting to stay away from the busy tourist centres, I opted to go to Dorgali, a small town in the province of Nuoro. The town gave me exactly what I wanted, a small town with a short drive to the coast and local life a plenty.
Nuoro itself if straight up the other main road in Sardinia (There are only a couple leading away from the airport... One that goes roun | |
