Sawgrass Mills, South Fla's impressive mega-mall, isn't really an outlet mall. But I like it anyway.
Though I live closer to Sawgrass Mills than 99.3% of the US population, it's far enough that I only go once a month or less. You can get great deals in the big stores and get gouged in the kiosks and restaurants.
Though too many of its stores are either (1) megastores but not outlets or (2) high-priced kiosks or fast food, I still love the place. Sawgrass Mills has about a dozen anchor stores, most not duplicated in Broward County. It has two food courts, a bungee jump, and a movie theatre, with better choices than most malls.
In addition to the real outlets (such as Penneys, As Seen On TV, Saks, and Leggs/Hanes), and scads of clothing stores, there are big regular low-price retailers such as Books-A-Million and Brands Mart (our favorites) plus large locations of some conventional stores (like Target).
It's within blocks of a number of other great retailers, such as CompUSA and Best Buy, plus fast food. So the mall and its vicinity comprise a great shopping destination.
But tourist attraction? No. Not unless you're from a small town with few shopping choices. For a REAL factory outlet mall, see the Belz factory outlet MALLS in the International Drive tourist area south of Orlando. It includes one huge mall and several strip centers within a few blocks.
BTW, It's not in Miami. It's in Sunrise, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale (Broward County), more than 1/2 hour north of the Miami city limits or airport, at best.

Advantages: Mall was great, good variety though not all reasonably priced. Disadvantages: Be careful with Radioshack. I got duped buying a laptop. Very disheartened by this incident and the product.
