Scalextric C7036 Digital Lane Change Straight Digital Accessory

This is a lovely piece of accessory that I have which goes with the rest of my Scalextric tracks and sets. This cost me a lot of money and I bought it from John Lewis for £32.99 but I should think it is easy to get hold of in any good toy shop which sells Scalextric, but you might have to order it in. This is my straight lane change extension kit. You can get them cheaper if you buy second hand but these are hard to come by, I find.

This accessory fits and clips in well with the existing straight and plain track I have and it fits nicely together and doesn’t come off or apart when the little slot cars are racing round the tracks. The reason I bought this lane changer is because all my cars were in the same lane and I wanted to make it more exciting to I bought this. It is a 1:32 scale, the same as the rest of my Scalextric things. It is digital compatible and it runs off the mains and you don’t need a battery for it to work. I feel it does a lovely job and it certainly adds to the excitement if I am playing either by myself or with my granddaughter, who loves slot car racing like I do.

This is a proper and genuine Scalextric part and you have to use it with the C7017 single lane track. The cars can overtake each other when I use this and it lets me get my little cars to change lanes very quickly indeed, in the flash of an eye and it makes the racing more thrilling. This is not suitable for little children under the ages of 36 months though because of the small parts. It is made of strong and sturdy plastic in black and it is long lasting and durable and I have had it for nearly two years now and it has been used a lot in that time.

I always think it looks very real and lifelike when the little cars over take each other with this lovely lane changer, possibly a little bit faster than real life, but its still good, I find. I just touch the button on my controller and the car will shoot past and overtake. I have had the digital circuit for a long time and until I bought this lovely lane changer I wasn’t thinking that the racing could get even more exciting, and now it has, I am pleased to say. Because this track is new compared to my old track, the surface is smoother though because the old tracks used to have a much rougher surface and I used to find this was a little bit better because it meant that the cars would be more likely to stay on the steel tracks but not they do have a tendency to swing out their rear ends, which is a shame.

I used to have the radius version of these and these were terrible for throwing the poor little slot car right off the tracks and across the floor and they would hit my cats. These straight track lane changers are far better, I find and much more likely to keep my tiny little cars on the track where they are meant to be. They are lovely.

I do love this little track lane changer and I am so pleased I bought it because it makes racing so much better and far more exciting. It is good quality, quite expensive though, but I recommend it to you.
