Quick scan or professional copy.
Review of Epson Perfection 3490 Photo by Physik

Advantages: Excellent value, great results
Disadvantages: No off switch

I've been using the Epson Perfection 3490 Photo for about six months. Having used an older model Epson for several years I was happy to stay with the brand. This is an A4 flatbed scanner with good software which can be used to scan at the press of a button, there are in fact four buttons Start, Copy, Scan to Email and Scan to PDF. Although Professional mode seems to put some people off, it just gives you the means of altering the various parameters ...
...there is 3200dpi optical resolution. Scanning items at low res. for the web or to print quality photos to A3 the results are impressive. A useful feature is the built-in Transparency Unit for scanning slides or negatives. This is basically a slide holder that sits on the base, you then have to take out the reflective plate. This is all a bit fiddly if you have to swap between the two modes regularly. However if you mainly want a flatbed scanner ... Read review

A great product, enhanced by ease of use.
Review of Epson Perfection 3590 Photo by nemo183

Advantages: So easy to use, gives excellent results....
Disadvantages: Not fast, designed strictly for home use.

...35mm film. On the box Epson suggest this is "quick and easy". For once this claim is accurate, and even lives up to the Epson "Exceed your vision" hype. Installation: Everything comes on one CD, and the procedure worked first time. As ever, it's worth following the installation instructions to the letter, paying special attention to just when to connect the USB cable and switch on, as well as shutting down every last bit of running software before ...
...feature of this machine. The Epson software has a "Full Auto Mode". In practice, what this means is that if you wish to scan a strip of 35mm negatives, the whole process is wonderfully easy. You just place the strip in the autofeeder - no need to position it carefully - and then press the "go" button on the Epson software. Automatically, the system recognises you are scanning 35mm film, aligns the film for scanning, scans it and then shows you the ... Read review

Have epson hit 'perfection'
Review of Epson Perfection 3170 Photo by Andrew.F

Advantages: Style and quickness
Disadvantages: size

The Epson Perfection 3170 Photo is a flat bed scanner which functions on almost every computer it has been faced with. This is a stlyish option to the fast choice of flatbed scanners you can choose from. I personally chose this one because i liked the look of it and the clear cut facts about it, on the box. Now with some scanners you have to search through things to find what windows it operates on and how to work it and install it etc.. but with ...
...With this scanner everything you need is right under your nose. Well so to speak Another turn on for this product is its ease of use. All you have to do you install it is follow the simple instuctions given by Epson. Once you have done this everytime you need to use it just turn it on and you very much away. The price for this item obviosly various depending on what shop you go in to and what contry you are in, but i would say that you are getting ... Read review

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by anonymili

Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ...
...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
