Another joy for me is that when I scan old documents I need to keep creases etc intact for authenticity. It handles this fine and I have even been asked how I put the creases in! I order this model of scanner a few months ago now and I am quite impressed with the quality of it. I ordered it from www.buy.com and it only cost £35.00 and received it a couple of days later. As you will probably know when you receive any new hardware for the pc and that goes for software too actually, you have to install it on your pc. It is simple to use and all the instructions come up for you on the screen. You scan in the image you want and then you can alter it in size later. ...Previously I had the Epson 2480 and although this was good, it is no match for the 4490,expected really with the time elasped between the release of the models. With the resolution set at least 2400dpi and with only unsharp mask and colour restoration selected the faded slides and neagatives were nearly as new. There are a few points that should be noted. ...selecting colour restoration and Background correction when they are not needed, you can have a negative effect on what would have been not such a bad scan, if these items were left alone.
