Visioneer 5800
Review of Visioneer One Touch 5800 USB by
dansevic
Advantages: Ease of use - One touch scanning and saving and auto crop
Disadvantages: Due to high resolution 48 bit color - could use lots of disk space.
I have never used a scanner before, but with in 1 hour of installing the software/hardware i had created a photo album and slide show, due to its ease of use. You can scan with the press of one button straight to email printer or pc.
I had some damaged photos which the software which comes with it, PhotoSuite III SE, fixed simply and easily. The scan quality is amazing. One disadvantage is if you have low disk space when scanning at full resolution ... ...500 meg but this can then be saved as a jpeg to save some disk space. At standard resolution it will take less than one meg quality is still very good.
Overall if you want a scanner get this one easy to use and user friendly software.

simple to use but not completely problem free
Review of Primax Colorado USB 19200 by
ronialive
Advantages: light weight
Disadvantages: very long to fit on a desk. approx 19 inches
The scanner is light to carry but very long for my desk. The driver worked perfectly on 98 and 200 professionally but could not get it to function on ME. Easy to use on disc but complex to install from internet.
Appears to give goods results and ages well, now 3 years. However i have now got a problem with the mirror having moved but I understand it is easy to repair.
Very easy to open and clean. Has a false button at the front. The lid removes ...

A Great Buy
Review of Visioneer One Touch 7600 by
claireydeacon
Advantages: Quick and easy to install, "Idiot Proof"
Disadvantages: Maximum Item Size A4, but great for general home use
...but ended up with the Visioneer OneTouch 7600 USB. It is excellent.
It comes with a hugh instruction manual, which I thought I would never get through, but upon closer inspection realised that it is written in 5 different languages, so you only need 1/5th of the book.
We got it home, unpacked it and started with the set up. It couldn't have been easier. There are only two holes on the back, the power supply and the USB port. You can't get them ... ...scanner which does all we want an probably a whole lot more.
*******UPDATE*******
Despite not being "XP Compatible", there is an update on the Visioneer site which although not guaranteed to work, has meant that we can still use it and haven't had to buy a new Scanner. ...

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by
anonymili
Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES
The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ... ...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
