5300C Scanner
Review of HP ScanJet 5300C by
spursand45
Advantages: Four button instant use, color scanning, .pdf files, add-on pages for e-mail, slide compatible
Disadvantages: takes up some space, older technology.
The 5300C scanner from HP has given reliable use for three years. USB connection is a plus for this older scanner. I started with Windows 98 and I am now using with Windows XP home edition. It works well with XP. HP has the drivers on it's web page to direct the user to the proper program. The color (1200 dpi resolution) is compatible with current scanners. The ability to remove the cover and place a slide adaptor is a great addition. The four-button ...

N640p... In Plain English
Review of Canon CanoScan N640P by
Kyz22
Advantages: Good price, reliable, simple to use
Disadvantages: Has a boring name
...my recent review of another Canon scanner I though, ahh why not review the other one too, whilst my head is still full of scanning terminology. Sorry if it sounds a bit similar to my other scanning review, but there is only so much you can say about a scanner! So, the N640p, it sounds just like a manufacturers code that is used in a database somewhere. Well, to be brutally honest it is. Scanners, printers and suchlike never get good names. Cars will ... ...for this purpose, and the Canon N640p lets you do this with relative ease. You simple go to the settings panel.
Installing the machine is easy, it works on a plug and play basis. Jam the cable into your computer, let it recognise your new hardware and you're ready to go. If you're not using Windows Me or Xp (home or professional) then you will probably have to use the disk to install the scanner as the Device Manager isn’t as advanced on their operating ...

Adhesive mistake
Review of HP ScanJet 4400C by
alliepow
Advantages: Previews of the scanned image/document, ability to adjust image
Disadvantages: The disc no longer works and we had problems with the cable
...We have now owned the HP Scan Jet 4400c for about 3 years now and it served us well until we bought another computer.
The problem occurred very stupidly and was nothing technically wrong – just adhesively wrong. The disc to install this scanner onto a computer had a paper casing which had been glued down. When we installed it into our first computer, we tucked the flap inside and unfortunately the glue stuck to the disc and ruined it. We visited ... ...and very easy to understand. HP have made this easy for those and the instructions are easy to follow which means we were able to get using it quite quickly. The software includes Precision Pro but what was good was the chance to view the document, being able to adjust it and then finally scan it again. There are various options for changing the attributes and colouring e.g. greyscale etc. You are also able to choose what kind of document you are ...

Hewlett Packard name says it all...
Review of HP ScanJet 5470C by
bgen
Advantages: Versatile, sturdy and reliable, excellent quality images
Disadvantages: pricey, perhaps a bit bulky
...pretty straightforward and the supplied HP Precisionscan Pro 3.1 software helps you to get anything you could want from a scanner… The separate HP Scanjet Copy Utility bit of software can transform your scanner into a photocopier, and it gives you control over the number of copies (up to 99), brightness, quality of printing and even zoom (25-400%); you might want to do that only if there is no photocopier around, otherwise you’ll soon ... ...on the market. Considering all the aspects presented here, I think that HP Scanjet 5470c is a very reliable and extremely versatile colour A4 scanner; if you are looking for high quality scanning, this is one you should have on your shortlist...

Advantages: quick
Disadvantages: takes up alot of space
I have had the Hewlett Packard scanjet scanner 5200c for nearly a twelve months now and it as served me very well without any problems. It has both usb and parallel connections of which I use the usb for its easy of use and portability. The usb drivers installed without any problems and so did the supplied software Adobe Photo Deluxe Business edition and Caere Pagekeeper Standard.By using the scanning software you can do a prescan and then pick an ... ...the dpi and various other settings. When the scan is complete you then have the option to send what you have scan to several different places i.e., Adobe Photo Deluxe, Caere Pagekeeper, email, fax etc. I forgot to mention that when you install the scanning software it will check what application you have installed on your computer and will add various ones to its scan to facility. You can also add or delete manually. This scanner is well worth the ...
