quality scanning
Review of Primax Colorado Direct 9600 by Beautybox

Advantages: easy to use and cheap
Disadvantages: no power button of USB port

This scanner came free with my pc package so i wasn't expecting much from it but have been pleasantly suprised by its ease of use and set up and the quality of the scan. The only problem i had with it is that the software wasn't compatable with my printer software so a techi friend of mine had to download new software for it so i could keep using my printer. he assures me this is straight forward if you know what you are looking for and probably ...
...but if you have a lexmark printer you should be aware of this. The only other downsides which aren't really major are that it doesn't have an on/off button so you have to unplug it form the wall after every use adn it doesn't have a usb port so you need to check you have enough 12 pin jacks before buying, though in saying that you can plug it in via your printer if that has the right jack. Overall if your only using it occasionally then it is great, ... Read review

Visioneer 5800
Review of Visioneer One Touch 5800 USB by dansevic

Advantages: Ease of use - One touch scanning and saving and auto crop
Disadvantages: Due to high resolution 48 bit color - could use lots of disk space.

I have never used a scanner before, but with in 1 hour of installing the software/hardware i had created a photo album and slide show, due to its ease of use. You can scan with the press of one button straight to email printer or pc. I had some damaged photos which the software which comes with it, PhotoSuite III SE, fixed simply and easily. The scan quality is amazing. One disadvantage is if you have low disk space when scanning at full resolution ...
...500 meg but this can then be saved as a jpeg to save some disk space. At standard resolution it will take less than one meg quality is still very good. Overall if you want a scanner get this one easy to use and user friendly software. simple to use but not completely problem free
Review of Primax Colorado USB 19200 by ronialive

Advantages: light weight
Disadvantages: very long to fit on a desk. approx 19 inches

The scanner is light to carry but very long for my desk. The driver worked perfectly on 98 and 200 professionally but could not get it to function on ME. Easy to use on disc but complex to install from internet. Appears to give goods results and ages well, now 3 years. However i have now got a problem with the mirror having moved but I understand it is easy to repair. Very easy to open and clean. Has a false button at the front. The lid removes ... Read review

What a load of poo
Review of Primax Colorado USB 9600 by leadboiler

Advantages: Yay it's cheap!
Disadvantages: But it's a load of bollox

...cheapest scanner they sold. The Primax Colorado USB 9600 is a load of poop. You can buy one of these for around £30-35 which, for a scanner is very cheap. However, I do not recommend it, continue reading to see why... *Why it's so crap* ------------------------- I could have pulled each one of my hairs out one by one whilst setting up this flipping article. It took me a whole afternoon to get one piece of paper scanned, and then, ...
...else to say about the Primax Colorado USB 9600 scanner, well... unless you want to see a load of random swear words but I'm too much of a good girl for that. So just take my advice, don't buy it... yes yes I know it's cheap but by the time you get a decent scan you'll want to chuck it out of the window. DON'T BUY IT! ... Read review

Great visions from Visioneer!
Review of Visioneer One Touch 8700 USB by gusgusrule

Advantages: Cheap, excellent quality scanning, easy to install
Disadvantages: Slightly outdated design, reasonably slow,

The Visioneer One Touch 8700 USB is the latest addition to our studio. Now as usual, it had to pass through a number of criteria put forward by the boss! So what were the critieria? He was after a cheap scanner (under £100) for use with the receptionists PC and simply for scanning in pictures for our new website. So we didn't buy this for use in the design department, in which case we would have opted for something much more expensive and more capable. ...
...beige boxes, so I suppose visioneer did a litte to differentiate by having a black box instead of a beige one! Nowadays however theres not a beige scanner in sight in most PC stores, the shelfs are full of all sorts of designs, and in all sorts of colours, I'm particulary fond of the latest blue HP and epson ones and the attractive silver canon models. Its got 7 large buttons on the front which are large and easy to locate. -------------------- ... Read review
