Canoscan Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by brianatimmons

Advantages: image quality
Disadvantages: software ,scan speed

I have owned the canoscan scanner for several years now. the scanner is small, compact and portable. On the front it has 3 quick buttons which usefull for speed.eg copy which will scan and print.the image quality is great and via the software provided you can select the image quality in DPI (dots per inch). It simply plugs directly into your pc or laptop using a usb cable and it has no need to be plugged in to the mains. The downsides are 1. The software ... Read review

Dont buy it!
Review of Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB by fsrc

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Colour sensitivity

I have bought this scanner to use in my office, and I wish I had not. It is slow and the colours it produces are useless. I wanted it to scan and copy A3 colour maps that I had produced so I could print them out and send drafts to my clients, however this machine is now collecting dust as I have gone back to my Brother A4 scanner and have to fold the maps in half and stick together later. Ordinary black pen comes out as purple, dark green pencil ...
...expect for this price? In this case absolute rubbish! I am so very disappointed in it. Does anyone make an A3 colour scanner at a reasonable price??? The only things it has going for it is that it is compact and light weight and relatively easy to use. ... Read review

High quality 48-bit scanner
Review of Mustek ScanExpress 1248 UB by yassarikhan786

Advantages: Scans in both colour and black/white, cheap, runs on most OS's
Disadvantages: reasonably slow scanning time

The Mustek ScanExpress 1248 UB scanner is very old now and due to its age it has become very cheap. I was given this very flat-bed scanner by my uncle, the reason for that act of kindness was not due to his love but due to his computer retail shop being brutally burnt by a gang of thugs. This scanner was built to scan A4 (216mm x 297mm) sized documents, but is quite capable of scanning larger documents separately. You will have the option of scanning ...
...there, which are selling the Mustek 1248 UB for a much lower price than £53. Overall I think that the Mustek 1248UB is a very good scanner as I have one, and I have to say that it has been very reliable for the 3 years I have had it. This is not the future of scanning, but it sure does produce high quality scans of any document. And is very cost-effective basically 1. for it's low price and 2. the quality of scanning it provides. I have given this ... Read review

Easy scanning anywhere you are
Review of Visioneer Strobe XP 100 by laramax

Advantages: Compact, easy to use, portable
Disadvantages: Can only scan single sheets

I bought my Visioneer Strobe XP 100 because it is a great little scanner for use on the move. My main PC that I use for work is a laptop with docking station and I wanted something that would easily connect with that. I needed something that would let me organise all of my documents, photos, articles, brochures, and business cards and this Visioneer gave me all of that in a very compact unit that was light and easy to carry. It will pack easily into ...
...the USB port which mean I am able to scan documents anywhere I go and I don't have to carry lots of power leads and adaptors. It is a small scanner which works by means of a roller which takes in your document through a slot on the top, passes it over the scanner, and then pushes it out through the back. Because of its method of operation it is less than 300mm wide (12") and barely 50mm deep (2") so it takes up no space at all. The downside is that ... Read review

Visioneer Strobe XP-200
Review of Visioneer Strobe XP 200 by dorsetrambler

Advantages: small - takes very little desk space
Disadvantages: single sheets only - cannot be used to scan page of a book

I have been using the Visioner Strobe XP-200 for a year . This is now an essential piece of kit for me. It takes up very little room on my computer desk and sits comfortably between keyboard and monitor. It was very easy to set up and calibrate and was in full use within fifteen minutes of unpacking. Scanning is easy and fast, just insert the page to be copied, print side up, into the scanning slot and the machine will immediately start up and feed ...
...degrees and exits the scanner in a vertical(upward) direction, this allows unhampered paper feed even when the strobe xp200 is pushed right up against a monitor. The main advantage for me is the size of the machine which means I can have a scanner right in front of me all the time. This saves a lot of time as I can scan any number of documents without having to leave my chair. ... Read review
