Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ... I have bought this scanner to use in my office, and I wish I had not. It is slow and the colours it produces are useless. I wanted it to scan and copy A3 colour maps that I had produced so I could print them out and send drafts to my clients, however this machine is now collecting dust as I have gone back to my Brother A4 scanner and have to fold the maps in half and stick together later. Ordinary black pen comes out as purple, dark green pencil ...

...pc shop as my other Mustek brokedown. upon opening was pleasently suprised by the design better than most scanners at this end of the market. but sadly did have some driver conflicts with Windows xp in the end tho got it to work perfectly on wifes pc running Windows ME. If you are looking for a no frills scanner with an up to date design just for scanning photos etc.. at home then this is the one for you. Resoulution is better than you would expect ... Read review

The Mustek ScanExpress 1248 UB scanner is very old now and due to its age it has become very cheap. Overall I think that the Mustek 1248UB is a very good scanner as I have one, and I have to say that it has been very reliable for the 3 years I have had it.
