Cheap, good and reliable
Review of HP ScanJet 5370C by
the_man_from_del_monte
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Dust under the scanning glass
...of the scanner is the HP logo along with the model number. On the front of the scanner is a pannel that has four blue buttons on. They are used as shortcuts to scan, fax, copy and email. I never use them, but they can be quite annoying if you knock one and it loads the scanning software on screen.
Ease Of Use
The scanner is easy to use, just click scan and your away, although it does have a few annoying features, like scanning in black and white ... ...you decide taht you want to save it, you have to re-scan the picture all over again. Scanning an image takes about a minute.
Problems
I have had the scanner for a few years now and it has not broken yet although there has been a build up of dust under the scanning screen, but this hasn't appeared to affect my scans too much.
The Price
I got the scanner for Christmas but after a look around the internet I found you could pick one up for about ...

5300C Scanner
Review of HP ScanJet 5300C by
spursand45
Advantages: Four button instant use, color scanning, .pdf files, add-on pages for e-mail, slide compatible
Disadvantages: takes up some space, older technology.
The 5300C scanner from HP has given reliable use for three years. USB connection is a plus for this older scanner. I started with Windows 98 and I am now using with Windows XP home edition. It works well with XP. HP has the drivers on it's web page to direct the user to the proper program. The color (1200 dpi resolution) is compatible with current scanners. The ability to remove the cover and place a slide adaptor is a great addition. The four-button ...

Quality Flatbed Scanner Ideal for Business Use
Review of HP ScanJet 6350C by
Weltmeister
Advantages: Very high quality images; Fast scans even at high res
Disadvantages: Poor driver support for Win XP; Noisy; Large
HP isn't well renowned for making high quality scanners - usually their inkjet printers steal the limelight away. Nonetheless, HP's Scanjet 6350c is a good multi-purpose flatbed scanner.
The 6350c is really aimed at small to medium business users, although you might find it useful in the home office if you scan documents regularly. This is an extremely versatile scanner, offering normal flatbed scanning as well as an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) ... ...go. It also comes with a handy slide adaptor.
Connection options are USB 1.0 and SCSI. I used the USB connection, and the speed was perfectly acceptable, even for high resolution scans, although SCSI is there if you need an even faster connection.
Software included with the scanner is reasonable fare. Precisionscan Pro, the main program to which scans are sent, could be better. It includes most functions you would need to use to tweak your scans, ...

Adhesive mistake
Review of HP ScanJet 4400C by
alliepow
Advantages: Previews of the scanned image/document, ability to adjust image
Disadvantages: The disc no longer works and we had problems with the cable
...We have now owned the HP Scan Jet 4400c for about 3 years now and it served us well until we bought another computer.
The problem occurred very stupidly and was nothing technically wrong – just adhesively wrong. The disc to install this scanner onto a computer had a paper casing which had been glued down. When we installed it into our first computer, we tucked the flap inside and unfortunately the glue stuck to the disc and ruined it. We visited ... ...and very easy to understand. HP have made this easy for those and the instructions are easy to follow which means we were able to get using it quite quickly. The software includes Precision Pro but what was good was the chance to view the document, being able to adjust it and then finally scan it again. There are various options for changing the attributes and colouring e.g. greyscale etc. You are also able to choose what kind of document you are ...

High Performer by HP
Review of HP ScanJet 6300C by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Easy to use, reliable, high quality
Disadvantages: A bit chunky and heavy by modern standards
...go for quality.
This HP was one of PCW's display models at a vastly reduced price about 5 years ago. £90 took me into the very latest and highest resolutions at that time.
It is still commendable at 1200 x1200 dpi and 24 bit colour.
It is linked to my computer through USB and I find it really fast, particularly at lower resolutions.
It is A4 in size, and can handle smaller copy obviously. It comes with a little triangular glass and metal accessory ... ...photocopied, at short notice.
HP are good at giving update patches for the software but beyond that, I have not had to test their support.
So no flags out encouraging you to rush out and buy one of these instead of having your dinner ! But if you are wanting a scanner, go for a good one, and this is in there with them.! ...
