A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by
anonymili
Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES
The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ... ...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...

mebigbadjoe
Advantages: cheap sturdy good resoulution
Disadvantages: some problems with xp
...pc shop as my other Mustek brokedown. upon opening was pleasently suprised by the design better than most scanners at this end of the market. but sadly did have some driver conflicts with Windows xp in the end tho got it to work perfectly on wifes pc running Windows ME. If you are looking for a no frills scanner with an up to date design just for scanning photos etc.. at home then this is the one for you. Resoulution is better than you would expect ...

Canon Canoscan Lide 60
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 by
alunhunt
Advantages: Compact, looks good and good scan quality
Disadvantages: None yet found
Recently bought and installed this scanner as a replacement for an old parallel port scanner on an Windows 98 system.
The scanner comes well packaged with a stand, USB cable, multi langauge instructions and a installation CD. The packaging was easy to remove with no hidden bits and bobs to remove. Visually the scanner is easy on the eye in silver and black.
The scanner comes with a stand so that it can be stored and used in the upright position, ... ...bugbear with flatbed scanners.)
However at present it remains difficult to use in the upright position and I now only use this for storage.
Installation was easy - simple instructions, one CD and a flawless install process. Remember to install the software before plugging in the scanner.
The installation software contains the usual set of utilities including picture manipulation and OCR. I have not used these as I have my own favourites for these ...

SCAN IT ALL
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 30 by
shagz
Advantages: slim.......easy storage
Disadvantages: slow scan process
the LiDE 30 has a great design and slimming look. This is actually the first scanner that i have owned and used for my continuous school work. the 3 useful exterior buttons on the front of the scanner allow easy useage incase you have little time and need to quickly rush a scan or copy...or even a fax. This scanner does produce great scanned pictures but if you seriously are a person on the go or like to get things done faster then this aint for ...

LiDE 35
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 35 by
tinisalaud
Advantages: Sleek with front pad to start off some major features
Disadvantages: Text scanning dubious, but see review
One needs to set WHAT you are scanning from to get a reasonable scan - photo, magazine, black & white image etc. The reproduction on screen is not (necessarily) what it would look like if you were to print it out there & then. Doubling as a photocopier is a brilliant idea, via the front buttons which as another reviewer says means you don't need to start a software package on your computer. Some fixing might be required for photos and using Adobe ... ...recallibrates itself from time to time, which can slow things down but does mean if you previously scanned a small item then scan a large one, the end results are comparable. Haven't found the text scanning facility to be very useful, but this is possibly because I have been trying to scan 8 point text (and smaller) as well as output from a dot matrix printer ! ...
