An EXCELLENT scanner at a BARGAIN price
Review of Epson Perfection 1670 Photo by
jerzed
Advantages: Fast, Compact, Excellent Quality scans, Scans Negs and Slides
Disadvantages: Control Interface, Looks like it should, but does not make toasted sandwiches
...more instinctive. I hope that Epson have improved this on later models.
Apart from getting used to the control interface, the scanner is a nicely built and specified unit and despite it's being superceded is still a very good unit. From personal experience, i find that shrpness of focus is everything on a scanner, without that all of the dpi in the world won't make it better. My late and lamented HP6200C was 300dpi and was outstanding. More dpi ...

A great value for money scanner.
Review of Epson Perfection 1670 by

Advantages: Fast, great colour reproduction, easy to use
Disadvantages: no negative holder, outdated
Unless you are specifically going to scan a large number of good quality negatives (if you are digitising your entire film based photo collection for example) then this scanner is brilliant.
It doesn't have a negative holder, and it doesn't have the highest resolution on the market, but unless you are working with negatives or slides, it simply doesn't matter.
The scanner has a maximum optical resoltion of 1600x1600dpi. You will never need to go ... ...resolution produce are enormous. For scanning of photos, documents, or anything else, this scanner excels.
It can scan a document in just a matter of seconds, and with the excellent software bundle supplied, can recognise it and convert it to a word document in less than a minute. I've used it to scan really nice 8"x6" photos, to make digital backups and the colour reproduction is excellent. I actually bought the scanner so i could make copies of ...

Great Value for Money Scanner
Review of Epson Perfection 1660 Photo by
Gonzoid
Advantages: Simple to Install and Use.
Disadvantages: Takes a few minutes to warm up.
...out.
I use this regularly and have never had a moments trouble with it and have been impressed with Epson as a brand for many years. Although I have no immediate plans to replace it, if I were to purchase a new scanner, it would almost certainly be another Epson. ...

CanonScan FS4000US
Review of Canon CanoScan FS4000US by
dwprices
Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: A bit slow
I bought this item a few years ago and was very impressed, easy to set up and use. Just plug it in load the software and off you go.
The TWAIN adapter is easy to use, just click on preview, and then on the photos you want to have scan, you get the choice of rotating them, and playing about with the colours if you want to, and a choice of what sizes you want them scanned with.
Canon, are very good and have produced many updates to the TWAIN, the ... ...manily used this with the APS adapter wchich has been effortless, just load the film in teh cartridge, slide the cartridge into the machine, press the scan button and wait for the photos to appear. I have only used the film adapter once, and did not find that the film lined up with theframes on the adapter.
It also comes with adapters for slides, which my family have made good use off, again easy to use, load the slides, push the adapter in and ...

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by
anonymili
Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES
The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ... ...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
