Great scanner with one problem
Review of Microtek ScanMaker X6 by
DVanElverdinghe
Advantages: Good picture
Disadvantages: overheat some times
...went on line to the microtek site and searched for scanmaker 6 and they had the drivers right there on the site.
I like this scanner it has good picture. It is also a very quite scanner. There is one problem I have found with it and that is that it can over heat. To make it over heat you have leave it on for three or four hours. When it is over heated it won’t work but all you have to do is turn it off and then on. I would suggest this scanner to ...

Microtek ScanMaker 3600
Review of Microtek ScanMaker 3600 by
sbutler1
Advantages: Affordable, solid, good quality and you can rest cups of tea on top!
Disadvantages: Sometimes slow to scan and other scanners do have better quality
We have had out Microtek Scanmaker 3600 for well over 5 years now and it is still going strong and doing the job for our entire family. I'm not sure how much we paid for it, but it was not a lot because we just wanted a basic scanner that could scan in documents. It is very reliable, easy to use, with a suitable range of features but has the tendency to be a bit slow occasionally.
1. Looks, Design and Size
The scanner is fairly good looking, quite ... ...scanner is very straightforward. The Microtek Scan wizard programme is very user friendly and straightforward and I have never had any problems getting it to do what I have wanted. 9/10
3. Speed, Colour Sensitivity and Resolution
The scanner is normally very fast, but can be exceptionally slow when trying to scan at higher qualities or when editing and changing images. Nevertheless, a few minutes patience and it is done. Unless you can't wait around, ...

New Life to Old Photo's
Review of Microtek FilmScan 2700 by
gizmoregis
Advantages: Cheap as chips
Disadvantages: Family ask you to Scan their old photos too
Do you have boxes of old 35mm film or slides from before you bought that shiny new digital camea?
This is the perfect gaget for transferring old films onto your PC and it is one of the cheapest that I was able to find.
The FilmScan 2700 can scan 35mm positive and negative film. Once scanned, images can be saved, printed, shared, enhanced and published. The accompanying software contains several image adjustment tools allow scans to be fully optimized ... ...is able to scan 35mm exposures in slide or strip format with a reasonably high 2700dpi optical resolution. Each top quality scan is complete in arounf 1 minute 10 seconds. So if you have a lot of images it does take some time, but the scanner does not take a lot of attention and you can watch TV or even write a review on Ciao as you use it!
The installation is quick and simple, simply plug in to computer and install the software - if you have ever ...

Worth It !
Review of Canon CanoScan 4400F by
kel2v07
Advantages: Simple to use, Relatively Cheap, Looks good.
Disadvantages: Takes a while to install, lid hinge is awkward.
Being a Graphic Art student, during my first year of university I found myself fighting the urge to buy a scanner. However, even mounting student debts and an overdraft extension could not put me off this bargain of a scanner! Other scanners on the market either seem to have too many needless features bumping the prices up, or they are painfully slow and bulky machines that would not sit comfortably next to a new Mac. I managed to get mine for around ... ...perfect for fast but accurate scans of images, without the fuss of useless applications that clog up your memory [it works best straight through Photoshop]. The added extras like the automatic white-balancing save time, and it crops whilst in preview mode. To add to the list of necessities, it is quite light, it easy to clean, and looks sleek in silver and black. It may take a while to install but it's not complicated and is worth the wait when you ...

CanonScan FS4000US
Review of Canon CanoScan FS4000US by
dwprices
Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: A bit slow
I bought this item a few years ago and was very impressed, easy to set up and use. Just plug it in load the software and off you go.
The TWAIN adapter is easy to use, just click on preview, and then on the photos you want to have scan, you get the choice of rotating them, and playing about with the colours if you want to, and a choice of what sizes you want them scanned with.
Canon, are very good and have produced many updates to the TWAIN, the ... ...manily used this with the APS adapter wchich has been effortless, just load the film in teh cartridge, slide the cartridge into the machine, press the scan button and wait for the photos to appear. I have only used the film adapter once, and did not find that the film lined up with theframes on the adapter.
It also comes with adapters for slides, which my family have made good use off, again easy to use, load the slides, push the adapter in and ...
