Great speedy scanner!

Advantages: Speed
Disadvantages: Quality (Only a small disadvantage)

The Canon CanoScan 8800f The canon CanoScan 8800f is a near perfect scanner. It is used in our school and after using it for recent Art coursework i was very impressed. It took around ten seconds to scan an A4 sheet, which is pretty quick in my opinion. The quality is also good. The colours come out well and although it was not perfect, it's hard to expect a perfect scan of a watercolour painting, as the colours were not bold. After asking my ...
...on my work, i decided i would have to check out what it comes with online. I was surprised to see that our school's Adobe photoshop Elements 5, a great program, had come with the scanner. Also included is ArcSoft photo studio 5, a not so great piece of software. Anyway, back to the scanner itself. As well as the scanner and software, it includes a trio of plastic adaptors. One is for 35mm filmstrips, one is for 35mm mounted slides and one is for ...

CanoScan - great quality scans at the touch of a button

Advantages: Quick, easy to use, quiet, great quality scans
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive

The Canon CanoScan is a great all-round flatbed scanner. It is a good size (25cm x 36cm x 4cm) to enable all regular scanning, whilst not taking up unnecessary desk space. It has a resolution of 4800dpi x 4800 dpi, which results in great quality scans, of both black and white or colour documents/images. Whilst I have been rather let down by other scanners, this one is really easy to use and gives fantastic results. It is easy to scan in regular sheets/photos, ...
...Although other scanners I have used have allowed you to do this, the results have not been so good; often having the lid slightly ajar results in bleached patches of the scanned document, due to light getting in. However, I have personally not suffered any problems like that with this scanner. When scanning documents, text comes out clear; when scanning photos, the colours are a good representation and very accurate and vivid. Unlike many other scanners, ...

Disadvantages: speed in scanning

I have Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 at home. I have used this scanner since 2006 and got no problem with this scanner. Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 can be installed easily and can be operated even for beginner. It doesn't need an adaptor. The power supply comes from one USB port. CanoScan LiDE 25 has a good design. It is very slim and light, so you can bring it easily wherever you go. This is not an expensive scanner in my country, but it has a good quality ...
...scanner. It needs maybe 2 minutes for one page scanning. Colour sensitivity of this scanner is good. It means the result and the object of scanning have almost same quality. Overall Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 deserves to be recommended for anyone who needs a cheap scanner with a good result. ...

Updating the Ark

Advantages: Low purchase price, versatility, good results
Disadvantages: It's noisy, not really for the serious photographer

...decided to go for the Epson Perfection V300 Photo scanner, which set me back £72.56 on Amazon. I have been using 3-in-1 scanners for years now, so it seemed strange to have a dedicated flatbed scanner again and whilst this model is sleek and stylish in black, it is also quite large. Fortunately it is lightweight and easy to move about if need be. The scanner came with software CD, mains adaptor, photo template and USB lead. Connecting it was trickier ...
...around this by visiting the Epson website and downloading the drivers from there, but I still was a little confused because I couldn't immediately access the instruction manual - which was, as most of these things are these days, on the CD. I managed to locate the instructions online, which was just as well as I was completely baffled as to how I could scan negatives and slides using the photo template which came with the scanner on first impressions. ...
