Excellent document archiving for small offices

Advantages: Efficiency, Build Quality, Reliability
Disadvantages: None

We purchased this scanner after doing a great deal of research on Automatic Document Feeders (ADF). It was the best available for the money (we paid £299) with a brand name that has a good track record in the document scanning/copying industry. Initial impressions on receiving the scanner were good, the build quality of the product was excellent, and the packaging was also great. Installation of the scanner went smoothly, with all drivers and software ...
...action the scanner performs well, with the ADF being a godsend for scanning large numbers of pages at once. The bundled software (paperport) works a treat and can save documents direct to pdf format. As well as this the software enables scanned pages to be imported directly into virtually any application installed on your machine. This is far quicker than having to scan, then save, then re-open the file from within the said program. There is also ...

Easy scanning anywhere you are

Advantages: Compact, easy to use, portable
Disadvantages: Can only scan single sheets

I bought my Visioneer Strobe XP 100 because it is a great little scanner for use on the move. My main PC that I use for work is a laptop with docking station and I wanted something that would easily connect with that. I needed something that would let me organise all of my documents, photos, articles, brochures, and business cards and this Visioneer gave me all of that in a very compact unit that was light and easy to carry. It will pack easily into ...
...the USB port which mean I am able to scan documents anywhere I go and I don't have to carry lots of power leads and adaptors. It is a small scanner which works by means of a roller which takes in your document through a slot on the top, passes it over the scanner, and then pushes it out through the back. Because of its method of operation it is less than 300mm wide (12") and barely 50mm deep (2") so it takes up no space at all. The downside is that ...

Good scanner, doesn't support Windows Vista

Advantages: Good picture quality, not a bad price
Disadvantages: Doesn't support Windows Vista, Xerox no longer support scanners

...helpdesk support for scanners from Xerox is non existant. I searched the web for a new update of the driver, and I kept going around in circles, with the ending conclusion that the updated driver didn't exist yet. I then preceed to phone Xerox to ask about this, when you call Xerox with the number on the box, you get a recorded message which asks you to enter your serial number, I did this and the recorded message kept telling me this product didn't ...
...advisor, who then told me Xerox no longer delt with the Scanners, this was out sourced to another company (I don't remember the name, sorry). I phoned this other company (on an expensive number) and the guy told me that they were aware that the Xerox 4800 didn't have a Vista compatible driver and that I should keep checking the Xerox website as they were working on one and it should be there in about 4 weeks. Well, 5 months down the line, the driver ...

SCANNED AND DELIVERED

Advantages: Cheap and fast
Disadvantages: None of Note

...laptops and printers was a Xerox scanner for a penny less than £35. The scant details offered in the advert showed that it was far superior to my current scanner so I headed wallet in hand to my local PC World to procure the item without delay. Now therein lays my first mistake, after a twenty minute wait the sales assistant reappeared to inform me that they had sold out there allotted shipment of scanners and that he had no idea if or when they ...
...do a search for the Xerox 2400 flatbed scanner on the internet and buy one that way. However the cheapest price I found it available at was, you’ve guessed it, at PCworld.co.uk. This wasn’t a problem though, I like PC Worlds stock it’s just the staff that let the place down, by buying from their online store I would be cutting out the morons and getting the scanner I wanted. A few mouse clicks and a credit card later I had the scanner on order for ...

Great visions from Visioneer!

Advantages: Cheap, excellent quality scanning, easy to install
Disadvantages: Slightly outdated design, reasonably slow,

The Visioneer One Touch 8700 USB is the latest addition to our studio. Now as usual, it had to pass through a number of criteria put forward by the boss! So what were the critieria? He was after a cheap scanner (under £100) for use with the receptionists PC and simply for scanning in pictures for our new website. So we didn't buy this for use in the design department, in which case we would have opted for something much more expensive and more capable. ...
...beige boxes, so I suppose visioneer did a litte to differentiate by having a black box instead of a beige one! Nowadays however theres not a beige scanner in sight in most PC stores, the shelfs are full of all sorts of designs, and in all sorts of colours, I'm particulary fond of the latest blue HP and epson ones and the attractive silver canon models. Its got 7 large buttons on the front which are large and easy to locate. -------------------- ...
