I recently signed with Skillstrain and subsequently realised I was told many lies and half truths. I was incorrectly lead to beleive I would be sponsored and after a 3 hour interview I miraculously 'passed' their aptitude test and was 'offered a place on the course'. It seems I was only just 'lucky' to get in. I can't begin to tell you what was said but among the lies was that only people over 35, that there was 5 local tutors and that Skillstrain were affiliated to Pitmans (the site I clicked), and that Skillstrain were connected to government and therefore not a private company. I was asked to sign in the appropriate places and give my bank details. I did this as well as querying why I wasn't paying Skillstrain, in my innocence I didn't realise I was taking on a finance agreement as I was told this was 'their bank' i would be paying through. I was not left any copies of anything I signed thus taking away an quiet time I could have read through and realised I had a chance to cancel. I am now fighting them for all I am worth as not only was I totally lied to but they only put themselves first. They also appear to be able to fool their finance company who also change names when things get hot !...I had never heard of Schiedegger which appeared on a statement and nor was money taken from my account as somehow someone elses details got attributed to my name. However, Trading Standards are very concerned and are currently advising me and also writing to the parties concerned. I paid £50 up front for 'books'....and have only just received on request copies of documents I signed. I advise anyone who feels they have been mislead to contact Trading Standards, who are advising me step by step. I urge anyone whoes in the same position with Schiedegger/Skillstrain to contact their local Trading Standards as this organisation exchange information. Also contact the companies involved to let them know they have violated your consumer rights by mis-representation and demand a satisfactory explaination to prevent them continuing their deceptive practices.
