Not really being a 'girlie' girl, I was never very good at looking after my nails, hair, feet and so on and since having my daughter these 'pampering' bits of personal hygiene have dropped even further down my list of priorities. They only raise their rather sad and scabby looking heads when I have a wedding or my husbands work Christmas Do to attend! I normally find myself, two days before the event suddenly realising that yes I have finally managed to find a dress that fits and shoes to match but that I will still look like some sort of contestant at the Yeti of the Year contest!
If I am lucky I manage to get a last minute hair appointment and while getting my hair done I practice fast hand gestures which I feebly hope will detract from my stubby, flaky fingernails. If I am super lucky, I will have closed shoes that I will
manage to keep my throbbing feet in until such time as everyone has had enough booze to be too piddled to notice that a) I've released my feet from purgatory and b) my feet are all cracked and crusty and shamefully unloved!
So, I was overjoyed when I saw an ad on the TV for Scholl Cracked Heel Repair Cream! As the ad progressed I was almost sent into a state of unrivalled excitement (yes, my life is lacking in some ways!) when it told me that I would see visible results with in THREE DAYS!!! Fantastic! Soft, lovely looking feet with minimal prior effort - this I just had to try!
I went out the very next day and tracked it down in Boots. I took it home and read the rather straight forward instructions - apply twice daily to clean dry skin, once the skin is restored, continue to use as necessary to maintain condition. Simple enough. So this I did religiously for the next three days. When I put it on my heels, I had expected it to a) sting and b) smell but it did neither of these things. The only sensation I found was sometimes after I put it on at night my heels felt a little 'tight' but this was not uncomfortable and I didn't notice it happening during the day. The one downside I did notice is that although the white cream rubs in and becomes translucent, the residue is quite oily. I don't think this would be a problem if you put socks on straight away but I was trying this out in the middle of the recent heat wave, so found little greasy heel marks over the bathroom tiles which could be hazardous.
So what happened? Well, would you believe it, it did exactly what it said!! My horrible, cracked, scaly (sorry if you are eating) heels became smoother and smoother and the Grand Canyon style cracks disappeared! I decided to be brave and see if it would help the scabby bits down the sides of my feet and guess what? It did! This stuff is amazing. I have stopped using it now as I know that if I start using it a week before whatever forthcoming 'Do' I'm attending, my feet will be soft and smooth and lovely on the big day! I know this is rather mean to my feet but hey, I have other priorities!
Both my sister (who I confessed to about my new found wonder cream and who immediately came back with 'Yes I KNOW! Isn't it fab!") and my husband have tried it out with equal success - this is a product for us all!
For those of you who like the nitty gritty, here are the facts:
It comes in a 60ml tube. It should not be applied to bleeding or infected cracks (hmmm, sounds lovely!). It is suitable for diabetics and sensitive skin. It is fragrance free, hypoallergenic and dermatalogically tested. You mustn't store it above 25°C and it has a use by date of 12 months after opening. As ever, you must keep out of reach of children, avoid contact with eyes and stop using it if it causes any irritation.
The ingredients are…on the box that I've since recycled (sorry, I'll update it when I get my next box)! However, when I was looking at the packaging in Boots I started to read the ingredients and stopped after reading the first thing listed because…wait for it…brace yourself for this one…urea! My first reaction was - you can't do this! Put pee on your feet? What are you thinking? Then I thought, to hell with it I'm sure it is all above board and hygienic, and I am so glad I did!
As I said at the beginning of this review, I am not a girlie girl and I don't generally do creams and potions but I can highly recommend this product to anyone who is too busy for one reason or another to look after their feet on a regular basis.

I would like to try this :) Seeing as I don't actually have cracks I guess it should just make my feet have softer skin and just seem nicer in general.
