During a night out in my home city of Newcastle, one of Europe's greatest 'party' cities I had the extremely unfortunate and immensely painful experience of throbbing and pounding in the balls of my feet. I have worn high heels for some years now and have never ever understood why a lot of my friends need to take their shoes off as soon as they get in to the taxi.............however on this fateful night I knew exactly what they meant.
I could barely walk across the Swing Bridge and looked like a drunken pre-Christmas reveller, you know the sort who only come out during the season of goodwill and can't handle their drink!! I was stumbling along on my heeled boots, highly embarassed that I looked like a unprofessional 'goer-outer', not the seasoned reveller that I am!!
That was the Friday, by the Sunday I could just about bear the pedals to drive the car and hobbled in to my parent's house....upon witnessing this unsightly sight, my Mum bought me these party gel cushions.
They come in a small plastic container, with Scholl Party Feet on the front. One pair in each packet. They are intended to help prevent the burning pain in the balls of your feet by providing invisible cushioning.
When you take them out of the packaging you peel the cushions off the protective film, insert in to the front of the shoe smooth side down with the pointed end facing the heel. This I have to admit is extremely tricky with high heeled pull on boots but easy to do with shoes although be warned if your shoes are already tight they will feel a tad tighter.
At a cost of approx £4.99, depending on where you buy them, you may think that that is on the expensive side but when you realise that they can be re-used and washed it isn't too bad, considering that they can help prevent you looking like a drunken woman and you are stripped of your cat-walk strides!
I do have to say that I have never used them with strappy sandals yet but am not really tempted to do so as once my friend went out with that very combination and she spent all night checking that they couldn't be seen and adjusting them as they slipped around due to the sweat of her dancing feet, rather like when less well endowed ladies stuff their bras with things for extra padding and realise that while they have been dancing around the 'padding' has popped out and visible to all!!
On the whole a good investment for those of you who wear standard toed high heeled shoes..........They really helped me out last night (N.Y's Eve) when I fancied myself as an Irish dancer. I struggled a little to get them in to my pull on 3 3/4 inch boots but managed and I happily walked home without any pain or anguish in the balls of my feet.
P.S I love the ratings below..........'Does it smell good?' Tell me is that before or after they have been used. Before wearing no smell, after wearing, well let's just say I've never felt the need to check!!
And as for absorbency........let's just say they aren't unfortunately designed to absorb sweat!
