Advantages: Can rid you of your verrucas Disadvantages: Can take a long time to do so!
I have had verrucas before however only when I was younger and after I came home from my recent break in Dubai I realised I had got two, one on my second toe and the other on the sole of my foot. I do not want to have verrucas because although I do not show off my feet on a regular basis verrucas do not make great viewing and an even bigger reason is that it is just unhygienic…

Verrucas are small-thickened growths of skin on your feet, which are caused by a virus. You can get verrucas by direct contact or in changing rooms at swimming pools. …What have you used?
Not having a lot of money I went out to Boots and bought Scholl’s Verruca removal system. It comes in a yellow thin rectangular shape and apart from the price, £3.50, the other reason I was drawn to it was the scientific look about the product. The words ‘medicated disc system’, ‘dermatologicallly tested adhesive’ and ‘salicylic acid’ all made me feel quite confident that the product was not cheap and it would be able to get rid of my verrucas with ease. So I paid at the counter and went home feeling quite safe that I had got value for my money…
…What did you have to do?
On opening of the product I checked that all the items were there, 3 packets of fifteen discs and a sheet of circular plasters with a patient information leaflet. Then I read the directions of use on the packaging. The first things to do is clean and dry your feet, luckily I have a bidet that I used to clean my feet, which I dried well with a towel after.
There are three different sized discs depending on the size of your verrucas. My verrucas were both small so I used the smallest discs. The reason there are different sized discs and not one fits all is because you are supposed to avoid contact to normal skin. One side of the disc is adhesive which is the side you apply to the verrucas. After this you put a plaster over the disc…
…How long do you have to keep it on for?
You must leave the disc in place for 48 hours and then remove it. If the verrucas have not gone than you must repeat the treatment for up to 12 weeks. For myself the verrucas were both gone after one treatment luckily…
…Did you have to make any changes to your usual routine?
Not really, the plasters covering the verrucas are waterproof so I was able to shower, although I do not think going swimming or having a bath would be a recommendation. I went shopping one of the days and walked quite a way but the plasters stayed on well, I used suitable trainers though and not huge heels which would have probably caused different results. I did wear socks in bed (very weird for me) just to make sure that I did not rub the plasters off whilst tossing and turning. When walking around you cannot feel their presence, they are very discreet…
…How does it work?
The product works by using an active ingredient called salicylic acid. This breaks down the hardened skin, causing the verrucas to disappear…
…Did it work for you then?
Yes, both verrucas were gone after one 48-hour treatment but different things work well for different people and my verrucas were both small it would most probably have taken longer with bigger ones…
…Are there any health risks?
There are some things, like most health products, you are recommend not to use the product if you are sensitive to aspirin, if the area around the verruca is inflamed or broken, if you are a new-born baby (that can read) or if you are pregnant. It is very unlikely that you can get side effects from using the product correctly but if you do you are recommended to stop and visit your doctor…
…What is better about this product than others?
It does not contain a liquid or paste that could make a mess and spread to healthy parts of your skin and it has worked for me so it must have some success…
…Did you encounter any problems?
There were some problems, firstly when opening a pack of discs to put on my feet some of them stuck to the outside packaging and it was awkward to get them off. Also one of my verrucas was on the bottom of my toe and the plaster did not fit and stay on around the toe, as it was too small, so I needed another usual plaster that I wrapped around the other plaster to hold it in place…
…Would you recommend this product for me then?
If you get a verruca I would definitely recommend this product. It lasts for a long time and you can get multiple uses out of it. I am not sure if any others are any quicker but it did not cause that much inconvenience to my life and it worked! Definitely worth the money but I am not sure if I could say the same if it took 12 weeks for my verrucas to go.
...went and came back with Scholl Verruca Removal system(men never listen to you)
I'am not sure how much it cost as i wasn't there when he bought it, but i don't think it was too much.
The box is bright yellow with blue and red writing on the front and clearly states what the product is.
It would be very hard to miss it on the shelf.
It is not your usual cream or powder,it is a medicated disc system, and can also be used to treat warts.

...guy at the till reccommeded Scholl Verruca Removal System.
You open the packet to find loads of different sized discs which is great as it doesn't damage the good skin around the verucca. You stick it on and put a padded plaster (Which are included in the box) over the top. The first time I wore this, it fell off meaning the disc couldn't stay on for the full time. (48 hours). In order to solve this problem, I wore thick socks over night which helped ... ...days.
After the two days up, I removed the plaster and the verucca was very white, I scrubbed it with a pumice stone to get the top layor off, gave it a wash, and put a new disc/plaster on. (You may only need one treatment).
Two days later, I made sure my feet were very wet and then scrubbed it again and managed to *pick* out the dead/white skin. (It has a little black dot inside it) None of this hurt ONE bit, which is great because I'm a complete ...

Advantages: Effortless Disadvantages: Kept falling off and needed extra plasters to keep in place
I had two verrucas, one on the sole of my foot and the other on the underneath of my big toe. Unfortunately the one on the sole of my foot was too big for the smallest disc so I had to use the medium sized disc which resulted in destroyed skin. After the 48 hours I took the plasters off (I had to use extra plasters to keep the provided plaster in place) and there was a very small hole where the verrucas used to be with alot of unsightly, hard, white ...

Advantages: Works for other areas not sole of foot Disadvantages: the discs do not stick properly and stay in place
I have had 2 verrucas on the sole of my foot. Following a trip to the chemist he recommended the verruca removal system by scholl. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and it seemed like a simple solution to a horrible problem. Much to my horror the discs nor the padding provided stayed in place, hence good skin destroyed luckily on other parts of my foot. I found a disc sticking to my pygama trousers on waking in the morning after the ...
