Yesterday was payday and looking at my feet as I checked my bank balance I thought to myself “hmmmm I’ve had these trainers for a while and I got a little extra in my wages this month so I think a new pair of trainers are in order”.
So off I went in search of a new pair of trainers for my feet. Now I should explain something about my trainers, I don’t mean practical sporty trainers for the gym (ha ha that would be the day) but pretty trainers that will go with a variety of outfits and last at least 2 months of everyday wear.
I arrived in town with my Switch card in one purse section and handy student card in the other and immediately went to Office. I arrived there and to my delight I fell in love with a gorgeous pair of red trainers. The size on show was a 7; far to big for my small size 5 feet, so I approached the counter to get some assistance. After the assistant finally stopped talking to her friend I waited 15 minutes for her to come back and report that they didn’t actually have the trainers in my size.
This disappointment carried on in 3 other shoe shops till I arrived in Schuh. About 15 seconds after I walked into the shop and picked up a pair of very cute trainers one of the many members of staff asked if I needed any help. After checking the size of the trainer and seeing it was a 7 I asked if I could try on the 5. I waited for about 2 minutes and the very polite assistant returned with the 5. I tried it on and in traditional Sketcheresque style it was too big. The assistant returned promptly not only with the requested 4. Alas however the 4 was still a little large. So off the assistant trekked once again returning with the 3, and a friendly smile. After trying on the 3 and deciding that nope it was a little on the tight side and that I would stick to the 4 you would think that the friendly smiling assistant would be not so friendly anymore- but this was not the case. He advised me that he would put them behind the desk to be paid for when I was ready, and that if I required anymore help just to let him know.
I had a little look around in the sale but not finding anything I wanted to buy I proceeded to the cash desk. There was a little bit of a queue and only one person serving, but within about 15 seconds of my joining the queue another person signed on at the adjacent till, and the queue promptly went down. When it was my turn to be served the person serving me knew which box was mine, opened the box and checked both trainers were the same size, style and that one was a left and one a right. The girl then proceeded to put a spare pair of laces in the box- and asked if I was a student. This entitled me to a 10% discount-, which always makes me happy. I paid for my shoes and carried them off in the strong Schuh bag.
Overall my experience of Schuh was really positive. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the atmosphere was good. There were enough seats for all those trying on shoes (and some who were not) even though it was very busy. There are a wide variety of shoes, boots and trainers in all fashions and it different prices. There was also a sale, which had some very good reductions. They also advised me that if I wasn’t happy I could return the trainers without any hassle.
i recently had to return another pair of shoes (they were bought for me and they were a little too big)! The staff were once again very helpful and the change was made in 3 minutes and 45 seconds and this includes getting the new pair of smaller shoes! Go the Schuh staff!!!!
i love the suchiehall st shop, theres one in stirling but i find that the staff n glasgow are much nicer to me (poss coz they arent my friends who think its ok to abuse me verbally everytime i see them). I got three pairs of shoes from there yesterday and was only in there about 15 minutes. Ive never had to return anything but from what you say it'd not be a problem at all

I just love shoes. Been sorting my clothes etc. out a couple of days ago and have over 40 pairs! Been looking for a new pair of black shoes for work and, hey presto, I don't need to anymore because I found a new pair I forgot I had!!! Julia.
