Last week I had my hair chopped and instead of a boring long-just hanging there look, I have a sexy choppy-over one eye style. I wanted a funky colour to match my new style, but don't like to use any bleach on my hair.
This morning I dyed my hair using Schwarzkopf Live. I dyed it using the semi permanent Cosmic Blue shade.
It cost me £2.99 from Superdrug. Cosmic Blue is not a bright blue, it is supposed to give a black/blue hint to dark hair. It lasts for 5-8 washes, so for me that's about 3 weeks. Cosmic Blue is only for use on dark brown to black hair.
In the box there was a plastic bottle of dye, plastic gloves and instructions.
I was supposed to do a strand test and an allergy test but I never bother with those things. I recommend it if you have sensitive skin though.
The gloves, as usual, were far too big, but they did their job by preventing my hands from being stained.
I had to first wash my hair with a mild shampoo and then towel dry it.
My hair is of medium length and I didn't find that the one bottle was enough to cover my whole head. The dye was fairly runny and ran down my face, it would have been better if it was a bit thicker.
The dye dripped all over the bath and was a purple colour, but washed off easily. I also got some on my forehead and didn't wash it off quick enough so have a bit of a faint stain there. Nice.
You have to leave the dye for 30 minutes, then massage and rinse it out until the water runs clear. It took ages to run clear. The instructions say that the dye contains a special conditioner so there is no need to use an extra one, but I used a conditioner anyway.
My hair felt nice and soft and it was easy to comb. I blow dried it and it feels lovely and soft, although it certainly does not look in the slightest bit blue. It looks slightly darker but does not look like the colour on the box.
My hair smells of nasty chemicals too. They could have included a sachet of scented conditioner in the box to prevent that. I want my hair to smell nice and clean, not blatantly of dye.
The dye doesn't contain any ammonia or harsh chemicals and it does say on the box that it does not give dramatic results, but even so, I don't think I will spend my money on this again.

I've found that it is often easier for people with lighter coloured hair, like blondes, to change their hair colour every few months. It's like buying a new sweater, just a different look. Take for example a friend of mine I met at University. She has light brown hair that gets gradually lighter as the warm weather comes in. Her hair has seen shades of dark, chestnut browns, vamp like
black and burgundy purples. She wears her colour like a mood, ... ...admired that, the ease with which hair colour change comes. I am a completely different story. I have long dark hair. I've had my hair coloured at the hairdresser's
But as any one with very dark hair will know, there is only so much that you can do to the colour without actually having to bleach it before hand, causing irreparable damage.
Anyway, I'm losing the focus of this opinion. Thinking how great it would be if I could have a different colour ...

Advantages: Disadvantages: Definitley needs HOT water to rinse out. Stains anything it lands on.
...or Schwarzkopf. I thought Schwarzkopf had a decent reptation, so I went for a red colour.
I got home, ran the bath, put the dye in, left it for the requisite time then went back to rinse it off. Unfortunately my boiler decided to play up at this stage. Despite all my efforts all I could get was cold water. I rinsed for ages but the water was running clear & I could see that the dye was still in my hair. Eventually I had to phone my neighbour & beg ... ...By the time I finally got it rinsed the dye had been on for about 40 mins! Talk about bright red! It was verging on pillar box! To make things worse, it was anything but evenly spread. The roots were still my normal colour and it was patchy all over. All the shops were closed by then so I had no choice but to go out like that. I got a few strange looks! Next day I tried washing it over & over but there was no noticeable difference. I tried this stuff out when i was totally and utterly bored of my hair colour but didn't want to dye it a permanent colour. It was only £3.99 and well worth the money with a large bottle of dye/peroxide included, i've learnt before that some have hardly any and its useless if u have long hair and you want it to be a really strong colour.
I got a really fit red colour and dyed my hair! It only took me about 10/15mins to put on, it was reallly starightforward ... ...I left it for 20mins, got in the shower, wasahed it out and put in the conditioner.
I got out the shower and one of the best things to tell if its a good product is to c if it leaves dye all over your towel despite the water having run clear like the instructions ordered so u r led to believe u washed it all out. Basically, it worked well, the colour lasted properly for the 6weeks it was supposed to and i wash my hair everyday, so its definitely ...
