I was having a little bit of a clear out of my kitchen cupboards the other day and happened to come across a couple of drinks that had been opened and then left to one side, or rather pushed to the back of my cupboard. They were some drinks that we had brought in prior to Christmas and I had just forgotten them really. One of these was a bottle of the Schweppes Peppermint cordial. I had started to drink this as I had a glass when I was round at my parents on a couple of occasions; I then got a little bit of a taste and brought myself a bottle and here are my thoughts on the drink.
You can get this Schweppes drink from most supermarkets, I got mine in Tesco and it was the one litre bottle and this cost me £1.69. I was not sure if this was a good price to pay at the time but now I have researched I have seen that it is about the standard cost. Schweppes produce all sorts of drinks and I have had their lemonade many times in the past and been impressed with the brand so I am now giving this peppermint a try!
The bottle as I mentioned is a litre sized one and is made from recyclable plastic and comes with a plastic lid that needs to be screwed off before dispensing. The peppermint cordial bottle has a paper label wrapped around the centre and it has the Schweppes logo at the front and on the reverse is all of the information you need on the product, there is the ingredient listing, nutritional information and further information on the drink. The drink is a concentrate and so people mix it with their choice, I have had mine with lemonade and just to add a drop with a hint of water.
As soon as I took the lid off the bottle of cordial I could smell the peppermint, as I went to pour some of the drink I noticed it had quite a clear consistency and was smooth in texture. I remember my Mum drinking this as she had been feeling under the weather and she said the peppermint really refreshed her pallet and settled her stomach. I guess when I took a sip it tasted so different that I liked the newness of the drink and wanted more.
This is not a drink that I choose to drink all of the time, it is one of those drinks that I have now and again when I fancy, as I say, I add a dash to plain water for a flavour kick or I add some to a little bit of lemonade. I would not say that this is my favourite drink but as a change I find it quite sweet and really refreshing, it is not too sweet and it leaves my taste buds feeling great.
In summary, I am happy to recommend this drink, as I mentioned, it is not my favourite but it does do the trick and gives you that little something different from the usual fizzy drinks or squash.
4 out of 5 from me
