Doctor Who - Only Human
Advantages: good read Disadvantages: standard stuff
Doctor Who: Only Human.
=
This is a typical Dr Who yarn and follows the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack on yet another adventure.
The Tardis picks up a temporal disturbance back on Earth. Once there they discover that time is being played with things are being brought forwards and something's sent backwards in time.
The first thing they find or should that be the first someone is a Neanderthal Man! He has been brought forward ... ...evil Hy-Bractors and soon the Doctor is up to his old tricks. Whilst Captain (indestructible) Jack is using himself as bait. Rose meanwhile is about to open the grey door, she should leave it alone!
Will this adventure prove too much for the Doctor? Are you kidding? This is a typical Doctor Who paperback with great writing and the usual plot. The plot does actually move along quite quickly but all in all the book holds no surprises. It is just a ...

Extraordinary
Advantages: Mindblowing, fantastic Disadvantages: None
Takes you into a whole new area of the Culture, where the AI minds discuss the problems that are occuring since the presence of an unidentified object.
It is riddled with Banks' usual wit, imagination and depth. This gives many insights into areas of the Culture I'd not wondered about before.
The is much intrigue with many twists along the way. This was book I'd heard many goods things said about it, and was not disappointed. You've heard books ...

The Foundation series continues brilliantly
Advantages: Its one of the greatest science fiction book ever written Disadvantages: None
Foundation and Empire is my favourite of Asimovs foundation series, it continues on from Foundation and at the start of the novel Terminus has established itself as the central light in its particular area of the universe. Terminus is a stable government with an edge over its near competitors due in part to a lack of resources on the planet which forces innovation and technological advance. Foundation has been watching the slow decline of the galactic ... ...historian who has arrived at Foundation in his bid to find the original home planet of man. The historian has travelled for the first time and has learnt everything from a book, this is used as a show of decline of the empire and an example of stagnation and laziness.
Eventually the empire starts to notice the upstart young civilisation and inevitably starts a war led by a brilliant general called Ben Roise who at the start of the encounters wins ...
