Reviews of Science Fiction Books »
Riveting read
Advantages: Excellent story Disadvantages: None
Stephen Donaldson is the author of the highly acclaimed "Thomas Covenant" fantasy series. He has now turned his attention to science fiction.
The Gap Series follows the story of three people, two rival space pirates and the female cop who is kidnapped by one of them. The story is quite dark, but has lots of adventure and tension, making it a compulsive read.
The Gap Into Vision: Forbidden Knowledge is the second of Donaldsons five novels; after ...

BEST Fantasy EVER!!!
Advantages: Book guaranteed to keep you going from beginning to end. Disadvantages: You spend lots of money on books and there should be more in the series!!
I first read this when I was desperate for something to read but I soon was totally engrossed in it and HAD to continue the series.
There are 6 books in total and several other similar series by the same author. He writes in a very believable style and introduces alot of commonplace events into an otherwise fantastic environment.
These books will keep you hooked from start to finish and will have
you deeply immersed in another world.
The books ... ...despair in the world. He is drawn into this other world and is somehow changed to a position of importance and is suddenly seen to be a man who can be looked up to. The story is also somehow linked to his wedding band but you will have to read it to find out more.
If I had to compare it to another fantasy writer and their series I would probably say David Eddings and his Midkemian series. These books are a must for ANY fantasy fanatic or even anyone ...

King of bombs
Advantages: A good read Disadvantages: None
King of Bombs is a first time novel by Sheldon Filger about nuclear terrorism. Filger is a native of New York City and, like all New Yorkers, the attack on the Twin Towers changed the way Filger looked at the world.
He began to wonder if a nuclear terrorist attack was feasible, and if feasible, exactly how could it be carried out.
On the jacket of the book Filger prints the following quote from Suleiman Abu Gheith, "We have the right to kill four ... ...100% accurate copy of the King of Bombs.
The novel does not pull any punches. The good guys use a South American torture expert to rip information from a Pakistani scientist, and the Canadian Secret Service operate illegally in America because the US government is too stupid to see the risk of the King of Bombs being detonated.
Of course, the good guys win through in the end. Well, they DO don't they? You will need to read the book to find out. ...

Closer to Heaven
Advantages: Great character building Disadvantages: A little slow paced for my taste
Fantasy and science fiction are genres that mesh well together. Some authors have written successfully across both genres, but not usually in the same story. Jaine Fenn has managed to combine both in one book and it's an interesting read. One night, a stranger is found lying unconscious in a bog just outside the village of Dangwern. He appears to have come from nowhere and, apart from a strange piece of cloth lying near his naked body, there is nothing ... ...Unfortunately, this includes the stranger himself, as he is suffering from amnesia and has no idea even where he is, much less how he came to be there. Fortunately for Sais, as he is nicknamed, the boy who finds him is "sky touched". This means he is soon to travel to the City of Lights to be tested to see if he is worthy of being a consort of the goddesses. The village elders permit Sais and the boy's mother Kerin to accompany him to see if anyone ...

It is not just about football!
Advantages: It's very funny, and oh so true! Disadvantages: None
The Disc, for those who don't know, continues to float in space, supported by the elephants who ride the back of the great swimming turtle A'tuin. The Hub about which the planet spins is a centre of great magic, and best avoided if you want to live a happy and contented life. At the outer perimeter is the great circle sea which unendingly streams over the rim into the void, which is best avoided if you want to continue to live at all. Most Discians ... ...Smeems, for instance, is the Candle Nave at the Unseen University. He has to worry about keeping the candles not just alight, but properly melted, artistically, gothicly, dribbled, as it were. Of course, there's Trevor to help. And there's Nutt. With two t's. Trevor Likely has a tendency to skive off work whenever possible, and to kick a tin can around. His dad was a legend. Nutt is… well, no-one's quite sure what Nutt is, even him. Goblin isn't ...
