The best things come in small packages Advantages: You can get your Dresden Files fix with a whole new plot Disadvantages: Not as witty as previous novels Hello everyone! Long time no review! Now i'm on my summer holidays, i can catch up on my "to review" list, and i figure, where's the best place to start than with my favourite author, Jim Butcher's, latest enstallment of the Dresden Files? If you look at my reviews, you'll find a full 8 of them on this series ( i didn't review White Night as SohoBlack reviewed it first, and i agree with his opinions) So....Small Favour. the 10th Drseden Files novel. ... ...is. What else have we come to expect from Butcher? Once again, Dresden, the wizard investigator in Chicago is on the trail of killers and kidnappers, and finding himself generally out of his depth. Fahrenheit 451 Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: None ...premise of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. In a world that has gone mad, it centres on the war between censorship and freedom of thought. The protagonist, Guy Montag is the local firefighter, and he lives in an isolated society, where the totalitarian Government have tried to control independent thinking, by banning books. The Government believe that people should be happy and carefree, and that books have a bad effect on them, by giving them ideas. ... ...assorted books, poems and plays. Fahrenheit 451 was originally published in 1950 as a short story, and was entitled, 'The Fireman'. It tells a cautionary tale of people so wrapped up in their wall to wall TV's, that they don't notice or care about issues happening for real, like poverty and warfare. None of 'that sort of thing' matters to these TV junkies, who just want more and more trivial, meaningless things to watch, in their perfect little cocoon ... Closer to Heaven Advantages: Great character building Disadvantages: A little slow paced for my taste Fantasy and science fiction are genres that mesh well together. Some authors have written successfully across both genres, but not usually in the same story. Jaine Fenn has managed to combine both in one book and it's an interesting read. One night, a stranger is found lying unconscious in a bog just outside the village of Dangwern. He appears to have come from nowhere and, apart from a strange piece of cloth lying near his naked body, there is nothing ... ...Unfortunately, this includes the stranger himself, as he is suffering from amnesia and has no idea even where he is, much less how he came to be there. Fortunately for Sais, as he is nicknamed, the boy who finds him is "sky touched". This means he is soon to travel to the City of Lights to be tested to see if he is worthy of being a consort of the goddesses. From Dead to Worse Advantages: Good read Disadvantages: Lots of threads, can be confusing ...A failed attempt of takeover from werewolves in another area results in Alcide becoming the new packleader.
