Come sail with me
Advantages: Archeological entertainment Disadvantages: Not everybody's cup of tea
...any good conspiracy theory or ancient astronaut theory.
That is what makes this such an enjoyable book .That it is just possible, only it has not happened yet. Considering the total area of the planet, both land and sea, we have explored quite a large amount but we do not know all there is to know.
The film 'Stargate'(1994) which has spun off books and television series shows the popularity of such ideas and has its own cult following.
This book ... ...are the observer of the events that happen. Anything that happens elsewhere will be told by one of the characters to the others.
This is a type of book that will have you reading all night to see just how the story comes out. You are not overwhelmed with technology. Most is our own with just enough futuristic stuff to form the core of a good story.
Copies may be hard to come across now as the book was published back in 1996
Paperback 400 pages ...

Is this a just decision?
Advantages: One for the science fiction enthusiast Disadvantages: Not to everybodys liking
...that cover the response of a soldier to combat and there are Science Fiction books that cover that same thing in some future situation. This is military Science fiction, but not necessesarily a combat situation.
Well this author writes about Military Science Fiction and it is based in the future. But it is not a place full of "Gee wiz" gadgets. It is based on what we know today. O.K. it may be taken a bit further forward than where we are now, but ... ...Long endurance Cruiser USS Michalson. A ship with a crew of officers and men of some two hundred. As a part of his duties he is assigned to be the ships legal officer, by virtue of having taken a course in The Accademy.
( The American rank of Ensign is roughly equivalent to a British Sub Lieutenant. This rank also covers the American rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade for which there is no direct equivalent.) As such, he has the responsibility to deal ...

Soooooo Cold....Reach, Just Reach
Advantages: Gripping, Great Characters, Good Visualisation Disadvantages: Ends A Little Quick, Little Background To Histories, Overly Heroic On Occassion
...every few days for over a month now. My major problem seems to be that I want to give the plot of the book away, so eager am I to put my opinions of the story across, so I have tried my hardest not to do this on this occasion. I also seem to try and read too much into a book and look for the underlying messages and put those across in the review. Again, I've tried not to do that in this book.
I've seen this book with varying covers. My copy is a ... ...the book really! It's a good old size (Approx 750 pages) and took me about a week to get through since I read at a phenomenal speed and often for hours on end when I can get away with it!
A Cavern Of Black Ice is the first book in a series titled The Sword Of Shadows, and rather obviously is a heroic fantasy novel. The authoress (Is that still allowed in todays PC world or has it be de-gendered) was born in Liverpool in 1963 and emigrated to the ...

Closer to Heaven
Advantages: Great character building Disadvantages: A little slow paced for my taste
Fantasy and science fiction are genres that mesh well together. Some authors have written successfully across both genres, but not usually in the same story. Jaine Fenn has managed to combine both in one book and it's an interesting read. One night, a stranger is found lying unconscious in a bog just outside the village of Dangwern. He appears to have come from nowhere and, apart from a strange piece of cloth lying near his naked body, there is nothing ... ...Unfortunately, this includes the stranger himself, as he is suffering from amnesia and has no idea even where he is, much less how he came to be there. Fortunately for Sais, as he is nicknamed, the boy who finds him is "sky touched". This means he is soon to travel to the City of Lights to be tested to see if he is worthy of being a consort of the goddesses. The village elders permit Sais and the boy's mother Kerin to accompany him to see if anyone ...

It is not just about football!
Advantages: It's very funny, and oh so true! Disadvantages: None
The Disc, for those who don't know, continues to float in space, supported by the elephants who ride the back of the great swimming turtle A'tuin. The Hub about which the planet spins is a centre of great magic, and best avoided if you want to live a happy and contented life. At the outer perimeter is the great circle sea which unendingly streams over the rim into the void, which is best avoided if you want to continue to live at all. Most Discians ... ...Smeems, for instance, is the Candle Nave at the Unseen University. He has to worry about keeping the candles not just alight, but properly melted, artistically, gothicly, dribbled, as it were. Of course, there's Trevor to help. And there's Nutt. With two t's. Trevor Likely has a tendency to skive off work whenever possible, and to kick a tin can around. His dad was a legend. Nutt is… well, no-one's quite sure what Nutt is, even him. Goblin isn't ...
