Come sail with me
Advantages: Archeological entertainment Disadvantages: Not everybody's cup of tea
...any good conspiracy theory or ancient astronaut theory.
That is what makes this such an enjoyable book .That it is just possible, only it has not happened yet. Considering the total area of the planet, both land and sea, we have explored quite a large amount but we do not know all there is to know.
The film 'Stargate'(1994) which has spun off books and television series shows the popularity of such ideas and has its own cult following.
This book ... ...are the observer of the events that happen. Anything that happens elsewhere will be told by one of the characters to the others.
This is a type of book that will have you reading all night to see just how the story comes out. You are not overwhelmed with technology. Most is our own with just enough futuristic stuff to form the core of a good story.
Copies may be hard to come across now as the book was published back in 1996
Paperback 400 pages ...

The saga continues
Advantages: An entertaining and thought provoking read Disadvantages: Some will be put off by the science fiction lable
This is the 4th book in the Corean chronicles and the start of a second trilogy.
Plot background.
The time is several thousand years prior to the events set out in Legacies. The planet Corus was destined to be the new home of the all powerful Alectors. It is a pleasant, Earth like planet with varied seasons and a varied ecology. The Alectors very lives depend on drawing 'lifeforce' from the very life of the planet. In the past they had changed ... ...animal and human in preparation for the arrival in force of their race. The supervision is done by a smaller force of Alectors, who are larger and far more powerful than the other inhabitants. They have both technology and psychic talents not available to the others. Tensions are building as the time of the transfer draws near. Some may loose some of their power and the humans would be little more than cattle, though they do not know this. And the ...

Batman in a different world
Advantages: Everything is turned upside down. Disadvantages: Violent in places!
The All Star ranges of comics that have been released by DC on a monthly basis are something completely different to that of the normal comic run that DC publishes. These are totally separate to the normal line of monthly publications from DC and are giving some well known characters a little bit of a reboot and re-programming.
They are also treated in a manner that some would say that they take place in a parallel universe or some would say that ... ...His style of build for all the male characters are tall and muscular with the obligatory quaffed hair style, in fact all the male heroes look big, the females are drawn as sexy and curvy and are on a equal footing with their male counterpart when it comes to fighting. The look suits the characters well and get the point across that Batman is a determined man with what he does. In my mind All Star Batman and Robin is a very good example of how the ...

Closer to Heaven
Advantages: Great character building Disadvantages: A little slow paced for my taste
Fantasy and science fiction are genres that mesh well together. Some authors have written successfully across both genres, but not usually in the same story. Jaine Fenn has managed to combine both in one book and it's an interesting read. One night, a stranger is found lying unconscious in a bog just outside the village of Dangwern. He appears to have come from nowhere and, apart from a strange piece of cloth lying near his naked body, there is nothing ... ...Unfortunately, this includes the stranger himself, as he is suffering from amnesia and has no idea even where he is, much less how he came to be there. Fortunately for Sais, as he is nicknamed, the boy who finds him is "sky touched". This means he is soon to travel to the City of Lights to be tested to see if he is worthy of being a consort of the goddesses. The village elders permit Sais and the boy's mother Kerin to accompany him to see if anyone ...
