The best things come in small packages
Advantages: You can get your Dresden Files fix with a whole new plot Disadvantages: Not as witty as previous novels
Hello everyone! Long time no review! Now i'm on my summer holidays, i can catch up on my "to review" list, and i figure, where's the best place to start than with my favourite author, Jim Butcher's, latest enstallment of the Dresden Files? If you look at my reviews, you'll find a full 8 of them on this series ( i didn't review White Night as SohoBlack reviewed it first, and i agree with his opinions)
So....Small Favour. the 10th Drseden Files novel. ... ...is. What else have we come to expect from Butcher?
Once again, Dresden, the wizard investigator in Chicago is on the trail of killers and kidnappers, and finding himself generally out of his depth. As the last novel required a little thinking on the readers behalf (all those badddies could get a bit confusing), in this enstalment, Butcher is simplifying the plot by showing clearly who the bad guys are: with the added bonus of the reader having already ...

Overcrowded rats go psycho
Advantages: Stylistically cool, sociologically inspiring, good action and characters Disadvantages: First couple of pages are incomprehensible, get past them and you are cruising.
Brunner wrote this book 30 years ago, and it is a startling accomplishment. He may have got the timescale wrong, as he describes the world of 2010, but he hit the trends on the head and did it in a startlingly original way.
The world he describes is overcrowded to breaking point, where people put under intolerable strain by the population density and eugenic and reproductive laws live lives of not-so-quiet desperation. The pressures are kept in ... ...as hobby, in everyday people regularly running amok and killing indiscriminately until they are shot down, in elaborate attention to fashion and consumer consumption. Power lies in the hands of huge corporations, decisions are effectively made by the semi-intelligent computers that advise them. Government murder, genetics, drugs and status are the key ingredients. All this comes to a head with a handful of wonderfully vivid characters being forced ...

Cities in Flight
Advantages: Good read Disadvantages: A bit thin on details
Cities in flight.
Chris is a nosey teenager and one day that nose gets him into trouble. He is snooping around the outskirts of a town called Scranton hoping to see the town 'lift off' as it launches itself into space but he misjudges and is inside they Spindizzy field when they engage themselves and he is carried up and into space.
He will never see his old life again.
He goes on an adventure with the town but is then traded over ... ...inhabitants of the flying space cities have air, food and water aplenty but apart from some trading with other cities whom they rarely meet, it is not gone into in any detail, disappointing.
The story apart from that is fairly good and the main character is a poor boy made good. There are some space fights and battles planet side and more unique Sci-Fi techno that is used making this a decent if short novel.
All in all worth a read if you come ...

Spider-man:TDH, I certainly saw a lot of night reading this!!!
Advantages: A detailed and thoroughly brilliant look at Spiderman Disadvantages: Nobody will be allowed to talk to you for a good four/five hours
Spider-man: The darkest hours!!! Spiderman has always been the poor man's superhero, he has no money, barely any recognition as Peter Parker and the bigger superheroes tend to ignore him. Send a swarm of radioactive spiders into the slums of any big city and hundreds of spider-men would burst out of the woodwork, spandex suits and all. Well... actually the spiders would all die of radiation poisoning before they had a chance to do anything but hey, ... ...have read based on him, Spider-man: TDH is by far the best view into our Hero's problems when his alter ego once again forces danger onto his loved ones. Spider-man: TDH carries on from after Spiderman has defeated an ancient being known as Morlun, Morlun's brothers and sister arrive on the scene to show their anger at their brother's death, drawing Spiderman out by paying the mercenary Rhino to cause a ruckus. Just like their brother, these beings ...

Breath of fresh air....
Advantages: Can see it being a cult favorite... Disadvantages: ... will a cult following be enough to keep the series going?
...master plan. Not even the Goddess knows what the outcome of her plan will be, as she allows her "little pets" to free fall on the moon size planet called Androgynous Prime."
…. Uh'huh.
So, what this means to me.
I read the book in about a day. I didn't read it with an open mind, I pretty much decided that I was going to giggle or cringe my way through it, but ultimately hoping to get a good laugh for the next few days (as it is a lengthy book!).
... ...do this deed for the Goddess and all of my sisters. Although this shall most likely be my end, I shall not give hope to the men of the world. I shall not break, beg, or show fear in anyway," she whispered to herself."
Okay, before I infringe on copyright protection I'll stop there… but this girl kicks major AAAAA… even though she does get a bit gooey eye for a man. *boo hiss* ha-ha, but I won't give away the outcome of the 'relationship'. Read it! ...
