DOCTOR WHO - THE STEALERS OF DREAMS
Advantages: good read Disadvantages: nothing new
Doctor Who: The Stealers of Dreams.
The travelling trio arrive in the not so far future and find that Fiction has been outlawed. In fact anything that makes the mind think too much or adds to mans desires and fantasies is against the law, the penalty being death.
Who can be controlling society with such an iron grip and more importantly why?
The Doctor, Rose and Jack arrive and soon are in touch with the resistance ... ...nothing new added to the Doctor Who legacy.
The writing is clear and crisp and the plot moves along t a brisk pace.
This is a decent read but you will forget it not long after putting it down.
Recommended to be read once but only if you're a fan.

Enemies Old and New for the Doctor and Rose
Advantages: Great plot, fast-paced, good characterisation Disadvantages: A fair bit of technobabble
...The TARDIS takes the Doctor and Rose to a destination in deep space - Justicia, a prison camp stretched over seven planets, where Earth colonies deal with their criminals.
While Rose finds herself locked up in a teenage borstal, the Doctor is trapped in a scientific labour camp. Each is determined to find the other, and soon both Rose and the Doctor are risking life and limb to escape in their distinctive styles.
But their dangerous plans are complicated ... ...an interesting one: separate the Doctor and Rose and imprison them. On reading the back of the book, I wondered how this seemingly simplistic plot would be enough to sustain a book for 250 pages, but of course the imprisonment is just a scratch on the surface.
I see this book taking place after 'The Long Game', and the Doctor and Rose's relationship - where he is incredibly worried about her and she only wants to get back to him - seems natural ...

The Secret Heart of the World
Advantages: Humourous read Disadvantages: Its a fantasy
Meet Toby Dexter. He is a quiet single man just turned thirty three. He lives in Bradford-on-Avon and works in a bookshop in Bath. He is not really satisfied with his life, just going on day by day. There is a young lady that he sees sometimes on the Train who has a perfect mouth. He would like to get to know her better but has not yet worked up the courage.
After a routine dull day, arriving at the train station, he is caught in a shower of rain. ... ...He sees the lady open a door in the station buildings that he could have sworn was not there a moment ago. She goes through this door and Toby follows.....
Nothing will ever be the same for him, as he has crossed into the World of Mysterie from the World of Veritie. She warns him that it's a dangerous thing to be a mortal in the magical world of Mysterie and that he must not fall in love with her: she's much older than she looks and mortal must not ...

Phoenix Rising
Advantages: Some truly gripping tales from a master of epic fantasy Disadvantages: Donaldson sometimes spends too much time in set up; some of his women characters
Stephen R Donaldson is probably best known for his two main epic fantasy trilogies: The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever and The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (which is nowhere near as good as the first three). He as also written a two book fantasy series (would that be a ‘duolgy’?) collectively entitled Mordant’s Need, AND a five volume space opera series collectively known as The Gap. So, clearly, Donaldson ... ...first Covenant series, the Mordant series, but couldn’t get into the Gap – the jeans don’t fit ha-ha). However, he has also written a clutch of short stories. Some of which are shorter than others. Some are really quite long. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overview ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are eight stories in this collection, all originally written, as Donaldson explains in his introduction to the collection, either in ...

Spider-man:TDH, I certainly saw a lot of night reading this!!!
Advantages: A detailed and thoroughly brilliant look at Spiderman Disadvantages: Nobody will be allowed to talk to you for a good four/five hours
Spider-man: The darkest hours!!! Spiderman has always been the poor man's superhero, he has no money, barely any recognition as Peter Parker and the bigger superheroes tend to ignore him. Send a swarm of radioactive spiders into the slums of any big city and hundreds of spider-men would burst out of the woodwork, spandex suits and all. Well... actually the spiders would all die of radiation poisoning before they had a chance to do anything but hey, ... ...have read based on him, Spider-man: TDH is by far the best view into our Hero's problems when his alter ego once again forces danger onto his loved ones. Spider-man: TDH carries on from after Spiderman has defeated an ancient being known as Morlun, Morlun's brothers and sister arrive on the scene to show their anger at their brother's death, drawing Spiderman out by paying the mercenary Rhino to cause a ruckus. Just like their brother, these beings ...
