Showtime!
Advantages: The final novel in this series. Very entertaining Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
...starts in 2230 with an Omega Cloud bearing down on a frozen and dead planet. A planet that had once held a thriving civilisation.
For some reason still unknown the Omega Clouds attack and destroy any shapes not found in nature. So any city civilisation is destroyed. Earth once had a visit and the next wave is still on its way. Nothing that has been used to date has stopped or even damaged a cloud, not even multiple nuclear bombs.
The story moves ... ...project to deal with the Omega Clouds as the normal run of politicians are not doing anything. The attitude being that there is enough time that it will be somebody else’s problem. This against the fact that a previous race had tried and failed (The Monument Makers).
Now a cloud has changed course and a civilisation may die because there is one now being tracked. It has not been witnesed before and politicians always assume that it will not happen. ...

Come sail with me
Advantages: Archeological entertainment Disadvantages: Not everybody's cup of tea
...any good conspiracy theory or ancient astronaut theory.
That is what makes this such an enjoyable book .That it is just possible, only it has not happened yet. Considering the total area of the planet, both land and sea, we have explored quite a large amount but we do not know all there is to know.
The film 'Stargate'(1994) which has spun off books and television series shows the popularity of such ideas and has its own cult following.
This book ... ...are the observer of the events that happen. Anything that happens elsewhere will be told by one of the characters to the others.
This is a type of book that will have you reading all night to see just how the story comes out. You are not overwhelmed with technology. Most is our own with just enough futuristic stuff to form the core of a good story.
Copies may be hard to come across now as the book was published back in 1996
Paperback 400 pages ...

Closer to Heaven
Advantages: Great character building Disadvantages: A little slow paced for my taste
Fantasy and science fiction are genres that mesh well together. Some authors have written successfully across both genres, but not usually in the same story. Jaine Fenn has managed to combine both in one book and it's an interesting read. One night, a stranger is found lying unconscious in a bog just outside the village of Dangwern. He appears to have come from nowhere and, apart from a strange piece of cloth lying near his naked body, there is nothing ... ...Unfortunately, this includes the stranger himself, as he is suffering from amnesia and has no idea even where he is, much less how he came to be there. Fortunately for Sais, as he is nicknamed, the boy who finds him is "sky touched". This means he is soon to travel to the City of Lights to be tested to see if he is worthy of being a consort of the goddesses. The village elders permit Sais and the boy's mother Kerin to accompany him to see if anyone ...

It is not just about football!
Advantages: It's very funny, and oh so true! Disadvantages: None
The Disc, for those who don't know, continues to float in space, supported by the elephants who ride the back of the great swimming turtle A'tuin. The Hub about which the planet spins is a centre of great magic, and best avoided if you want to live a happy and contented life. At the outer perimeter is the great circle sea which unendingly streams over the rim into the void, which is best avoided if you want to continue to live at all. Most Discians ... ...Smeems, for instance, is the Candle Nave at the Unseen University. He has to worry about keeping the candles not just alight, but properly melted, artistically, gothicly, dribbled, as it were. Of course, there's Trevor to help. And there's Nutt. With two t's. Trevor Likely has a tendency to skive off work whenever possible, and to kick a tin can around. His dad was a legend. Nutt is… well, no-one's quite sure what Nutt is, even him. Goblin isn't ...
