Worth reading
Advantages: great for all ages to read Disadvantages: possibly slow to start
I picked this book up at a train station when it first came out. It was a gift for my Girlfriend, I had never heard of it before and got it for her to read on the plain on her way to china.
2 years later I picked it up again on her recommendation and didnt put it down again until I had finished reading it.
This story is the first in a series called "The Chronicles Of Ancient Darkenss" and follows the adventures of a young boy orfan in the forrests ... ...brings to life a world long forgotten and a way of life for the hunter gather tribes of the time that compels me to go and live in the woods for a while just to see how I would get on.
I think this story could take over from the likes of Tolkein and Rowling to become one of the best adventures for both children and adults.
I hope they make it into a film but I hope they do it well. ...

Ripping adventures with Space Captain Smith!
Advantages: Great characters, excellent humour Disadvantages: Looks like it might be a bit of a wait for Book 4.
...forces of New Luton!
Wrath of the Lemming Men is the third novel about Space Captain Smith, and sees the line still growing in confidence after hitting its stride with the previous God Emperor of Didcot. This is pulp science-fiction with lashings of humour, tea and tiffin, and a staggering body count.
Pastiche is not an easy genre in which to spin out three novels, and it's a credit to Frost that Smith is still a solid and likeable character. With ... ...Didcot parodied the Dune novels, Wrath of the Lemming Men seems to have Star Wars in its sights. We have a cantina scene, and the rather marvellous George Benson, who doesn't quite get enough to do. The climactic battle scenes owe more than a little to certain moments in The Empire Strikes Back, but still with plenty of Frost's own ideas to make sure that this is a novel in its own right, rather than a mere parody.
Possibly my favourite bit was ...

Prepare for Action.
Advantages: A riveting story of space and ships Disadvantages: Not for those who do not like a military yarn
...Politics could be very rough with in Rome with death being the reward for the looser in a faction fight.
Our first major character is Daniel Leary. He is the son but not the heir of a very powerful politician. He and his father had a disagreement and Daniel stormed off to join the Republic of Cinnabar Navy (RCN).As such he has only his pay to live on but is expected to meet certain standards for young aristocrats, in dress, manners and expenditure. ... ...a young aristocrat Daniel has with him a manservant named Hogg, who has served the family all his life. Hogg is a countryman, thief, poacher and all round fixer. He does not act in the traditional state of Valet, but does do many things that Daniel would rather not know about. Basically keeping the impecunious Daniel on the straight and narrow.
They are all on the wealthy trading system of Kostroma, where diplomacy is about to break down and the ...

A mind bending story of artificial realities
Advantages: A very novel and surreal look at life Disadvantages: Hard to follow and too outside of the box
...starts to unfold around him. Time and logic really start mind bending when objects around him start fading away and in time, the reality of the illusion is uncovered. So why the illusion and where is he really living? What is his role in the new existence.
MY THOUGHTS
I love the surreal nature of science fiction that completely thinks outside of the box. This book achieves this in abundance and creates an entirely new set of rules for existence ... ...whether to recommend this book to friends as it really is down to individual preference and how your own logic works. It didn’t entirely work for me but there again I am glad that I read it. Please take the time to rate this review. Thank you ...
