The Catalogue The Screwfix catalogue features their whole product range and spans over 1000 pages. It is split into 30 different sections to help find particular products and includes an index. Each item has a picture and a price chart, specifying sizes and prices. Some products offer a bulk deal; the more you buy, the more you save. The prices in the catalogue include VAT. This is useful for people like me, who are DIYers and cannot claim back VAT. Screwfix bring out a new catalogue around every two to three months. All of the products supplied are relatively cheap. For instance, I can pick up a pack of 25 'modesty blocks' (plastic corner blocks) from B&Q for about £2.40. From Screwfix, I can pick up a pack of 100 for £2.79. I also spotted a small consumer unit at B&Q for about £70. That day I bought one for half the price from Screwfix. This just about puts into perspective how cheap you can get things from Screwfix.
How to Buy There are three ways to purchase items from Screwfix. The easiest is online. Just type in the product name or code and press add to basket. Delivery is £5 for orders under £50. It is free if your order is over £50. The second way to order is on the phone. Tell them the product number and they will send it to you. The other way is to visit a Trade Counter. There are currently 71 of these across the country. The set-up is similar to Argos. You fill in a slip with product numbers, go to the desk and wait for your products. This is a very simple method and means you don't have to go walking around a big shop.
Delivery Delivery costs £5 for orders under £50. Orders over this value can have free delivery. The standard delivery is next day befor 6:30PM. However, they also offer faster delivery and Saturday delivery if you are prepared to pay a bit extra.
Delivery to some remote areas costs more. Check the Screwfix website for more details.
My Opinion I have used Screwfix many times now to purchase many products. Every time I have been impressed. They have always delivered on time, and the once that there was an error with the system, they e-mailed us straight away to inform us that they delivery would be the day after. When I first used the Trade Counter, the till staff didn't know what they were talking about. However the managers of the sop do, and were able to tell me about what I was buying. The catalogue could do with being a bit more detailed, but Screwfix do not see this as important as they aim at tradesmen. Do not let this put you off however. Screwfix also serve many DIYer's and homeowners and are happy to do so. I would highly recommend giving Screwfix a go as they offer a much wider selection than the big hardware stores and often at cheaper prices.
Advantages: They usually have what you want in stock and it is always cheaper than other shops in the area Disadvantages: none
...you have never been to screwfix it is definately worth a visit. If you imagine a do it yourself shop equivalent to Argos then you know what screwfix is like. Dont expect it to be as large as argos though but the principal is the same. Firstly either go to the shop or go to their site which is screwfix.com and get yourself one of their catalogues. These are are good size with 675 pages. So what do they stock? Screws, bolts, nails, packs, fixings, ... ...you have not got a screwfix by you you can go on their site and order things and get next day delivery. I must admit that whenever we need anything to buy in this line we go to this place or wickes. Screwfix is very cheap compared to any other place. A lot of shops if you want something you have to buy a couple or more than you want. Here you can pay for just the one which is great and makes things a lot cheaper. They have a card in their shop where ...

...them it snapped. I called screwfix yesterday and they were very helpful and said they would send an email to the relevent department, and they would be in contact with me soon to arrange a replacement. That was yesterday, at the time of writing this I have not heard back yet. When I called the phone was answered almost instantly, by the way !
Overall I am very impressed with this company and would recommend it to anyone.
Update: 04/04/08: Screwfix ... ...They passed my details on to the manufacturer and said they (the manufacterer), would be in contact with me directly. I thought I wouldn't hear any more, but I was pleasantly surprised when the manufacturer DID in fact call me later that day. They arranged for the replacement part to be posted out to me the next day, and a couple of days later they arrived. I was very impressed !! :-) ...

i would recommend Scewfix if you have alot of tools to buy, they are cheap, but you have to order over a certain amount £75.00 I think for free delivery. My husband has bought a planer, large drill and a sander and the handle broke on the drill, and they sent another one out immediately no problems free of charge, as the drill was still under the 12 months warranty. They have a good customer service team and very helpful. I would recommend these ...

What is Screwfix.com?
Online and catalgoe retailer of DIY, building and gardening supplies and equipment.
The range varies from budget 'home' use solutions to professional quality products designed for the trade.
The company started life as a trade supply unit and has graduated over the years into the enthusiast market.
You can order online, by phone or post. I have tried internet ordering and had to call on a few occasions (see below).
The online catalogue is good and well laid out. I often use this to plan my online order. This appears once you have asked for one or placed an order.
Why Use Screwfix?
Price is the primary reason - they are very competitive on most products. Not all are as cheap as the best prices in B&Q, but the larger quantities often are the best.
This leads me ...

I have used Screwfix many times and have never been disappointed. You can order goods online or order a catalogue online and place an order either online, by post or by telephone.
Their catalogue has the most comprehensive range of goods I have seen. Usually they offer freebies if you meet their requirements. Postage is made for next day delivery if you meet the deadline and is free if you spend more than £45. Their pricing policy is also hard to beat across the range.
Gone are the days now for me travelling to the nearest stockist, getting lost ib the stores and queueing for ages. I let Screwfix fix this hassle for me. ...

light fittings for the ceiling lights in living room
The list is actually endless, if you’re a married man you will know the score, you may even sympathise with me.
Now where I live I have a limited choice of places to go and get all I need to do these jobs.
I could go to Homebase, but they charge unrealistic prices for many of the items listed above, I could get some of the stuff from my local hardware store, but again I will end up paying over the odds and probably not get everything I need anyway.
The smart thing to do is to sit in front of your computer and go to “screwfix.com”. Failing that, call them up and order a catalogue (it’s free), within the pages of this catalogue you can virtually find everything you may ever need to keep her indoors happy on the DIY front.
They sell a comprehensive range ...
