Scrubs is an American comedy-drama created by Bill Lawrence and produced currently by ABC Studios. I originally wasn't a fan of the show, despite enjoying it everytime I watched an episode. However, one day I watched a few episodes back to back and thought - this show is brilliant. From there I decided to spend all my online (amazon voucher) earnings on the Scrubs boxsets. I could have wrote 6 different reviews on each series, but they would all be too similar, so I'll just write this one.
~~~What's it About ?~~~
Scrubs is based mainly within Sacred Heart Hospital and follows a wide range of doctors, nurses and other employees around the hospital. The main character of the show is JD, played by Zach Braff. However, he is really only the star because his thoughts provide the narration for the show. Screen time is shared out between many different characters.
There is usually a main stroyline running through a few episodes or an entire season, with many little sub-plots in each episode.
~~~Cast~~~
Zach Braff ... JD Sarah Chalke ... Elliot Donlad Faison ... Turk Judy Reyes ... Carla John C. McGinley ... Dr. Cox Ken Jenkins ... Dr. Bob Kelso Robert Maschio ... "The Todd" Sam Lloyd ... Ted Buckland Neill Flynn ... The Janitor
That's about as short as I could have made the cast list - there's so many good characters.
~~~Opinion on Cast~~~
Brett Benner and Debby Romano have done an unbelievable job with the casting of the show. In most shows there usually at least one character who I don't like and want to be killed off, but in Scrubs I don't dislike any of the charcaters in the slightest way.
All of the characters are different and entire episode could be based around anyone of them and it would still be an excellent episode.
Scrubs has also had many guest stars in it's time. These include :
Amy Smart, Dick Van Dyke, John Ritter, Heather Graham, Michael J Fox and Brenadan Fraser.
~~~Opinion on the Episodes~~~
Every episode is different and there are many different stories in each episode. Whether it's JD or Elliot needing help from Dr. Cox, Carla and Turk having some kind of problem or my favourite - JD and The Janitor trying to get one over on each other.
So far I've watched almost 5 complete series (around 100 episodes) and I've yet to find a poor one. After every episode I just want to watch another one, and then another and another.
This shows the quality of the writing team on the show.
~~~Final Thoughts~~~
Scrubs is one of the best shows on TV and if you haven't really watched it yet I would definetely recommend watching it. The acting, casting and storylines on the show are second to none and in a way similar to The Simpsons because of the high quality despite the quantity of episodes.
There are plenty of funny moments in each episode and there are some more serious episodes in there too.
10/10
