Advantages: Fast, Value for Money, Quiet, 5yr warranty Disadvantages: none that i know
...to transfer data between pc's without using a network, or for backup storage on many pc's. Also with external hard drives from seagate you only get a 1yr warranty, instead of 5yrs for internal drives like this one.
The formatted usable size is 298gb, not 320gb, it is very quiet I do not notice it at all. It is lightning fast thanks to its 16mb cache which helps make windows and programs load up quicker.
The downside with the low price I paid was that as it was OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hard drive, this means that it is for computer manufactures and the hard drive is the only item incuded, so there is no instruction manual, or the sata cable to connect your hard drive to the motherboard. I had to buy the cable seperatly, but this was only a couple of quid. However nnon OEM drives come with the cable included.
Although...

Advantages: Fast, Quick and Very Cheap! Disadvantages: Can't think of anything at all!
...When building a cheap and cheerful Internet browsing PC for a friend, 80GB of storage seemed easily enough. After some browsing I discovered the SeagateBarracuda 7200.9 80GB, and found that it covers all the important points when buying a hard disk.
An excellent and comprehensive 5 Year warranty was provided as standard, which certainly leads to a lot of peace of mind. Hard disks always seem to be the weakest link within Home PCs, so it is always nice to see a manufacturer putting faith into a non-enterprise level product.
The large 2MB Cache also attracted me to the Seagate, and the low price tag was the final decider for me. A day later I had the Seagate installed in the PC ready for its first boot. The PC in question is a fairly standard box - an AMD Sempron 2800+, 256MB of DDR RAM and a Gigabyte motherboard. The hard disk...

Advantages: Fast 7200rpm, Quiet and very well priced with a 5 year warranty. Disadvantages: None
...My Hard drive crashed and died a few weeks back so I decided to go for a larger HDD than I had before.
I decided to go for the Seagate ST3160023A Barracuda.
The main reasons for going for this model are it have a spin speed of 7200 and an 8 mb Cache and for a HDD to be as quiet as this one is has to be heard to be believed.
The HDD is 160GB and you would have thought that it would have been expensive but I paid £55.00 from Savastore.com but it is available from many online stores inc ebuyer and Misco for aroung the £55.00 mark.
But probably the most important reason was that the HDD comes with a 5 year warranty ( thats right 5 years, it is not a typing error ) so if it does fail then you are covered with a new drive on a send and return basis.
I do thoroughly recommen buying one of these drives if yours fails....
