Advantages: Reliable Disadvantages: Not the cheapest
...Well I saw the category so I have decided to review my computers C drive.
Seagate drives are not the cheapest there are but are generally very reliable, the main drive on our PC is getting on for 3 years old and is still in perfect condition.
It is not a high speed drive so doesn't get too noisy - unlike the new high speed drives.
Fittting - it is as easy as any other IDE drive to fit, three holes on each side of standard 3 1/2 inch bay.
There are 4 x 0.1" jumpers for setting the drive up as a master or slave, or as the only drive in a PC.
To be honest there is not much more to say except that medium speed Seagate drives are very reliable and are very good for bespoke PCs.
I now have a 120GB Seagate drive as well as drive D:
The drive was supplied by the company which built the PC - in its day this drive was about £80, and the 40...

...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast.
This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter.
There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung).
Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee.
Technical specs
- Capacity: 250 GB
- Speed: 7200 rpm
- Interface: SATA-II
- Cache: 16MB
- 5 year manufacturer''s warranty
To conclude this is an excellent hard drive as expected from such a great manufacture...

Advantages: Reliable and high capacity Disadvantages: Not exceptionally quick for high performance computers
...When I first built my PC this was the hard drive that I used for everything. It is a very reliable hard drive and is an excellent buy for people who need that extra capacity. The only bad point that I can think of about this hard drive is that it is 7200rpm as apposed to the raptor drive I use as my system drive. This lesser speed means that things such as disk defragmenters, installations and boot can be slower if you are used to a high performance drive however for anyone who just needs capacity this is the drive for you. In conclusion this is an excellent product for capacity however if you are the type (like me) who wants to run high performance games with highest settings then this is not the drive you need as your system volume....
