Advantages: Reliable Disadvantages: Not the cheapest
...Well I saw the category so I have decided to review my computers C drive.
Seagate drives are not the cheapest there are but are generally very reliable, the main drive on our PC is getting on for 3 years old and is still in perfect condition.
It is not a high speed drive so doesn't get too noisy - unlike the new high speed drives.
Fittting - it is as easy as any other IDE drive to fit, three holes on each side of standard 3 1/2 inch bay.
There are 4 x 0.1" jumpers for setting the drive up as a master or slave, or as the only drive in a PC.
To be honest there is not much more to say except that medium speed Seagate drives are very reliable and are very good for bespoke PCs.
I now have a 120GB Seagate drive as well as drive D:
The drive was supplied by the company which built the PC - in its day this drive was about £80, and the 40...

Advantages: Fast, Quick and Very Cheap! Disadvantages: Can't think of anything at all!
...When building a cheap and cheerful Internet browsing PC for a friend, 80GB of storage seemed easily enough. After some browsing I discovered the SeagateBarracuda 7200.9 80GB, and found that it covers all the important points when buying a hard disk.
An excellent and comprehensive 5 Year warranty was provided as standard, which certainly leads to a lot of peace of mind. Hard disks always seem to be the weakest link within Home PCs, so it is always nice to see a manufacturer putting faith into a non-enterprise level product.
The large 2MB Cache also attracted me to the Seagate, and the low price tag was the final decider for me. A day later I had the Seagate installed in the PC ready for its first boot. The PC in question is a fairly standard box - an AMD Sempron 2800+, 256MB of DDR RAM and a Gigabyte motherboard. The hard disk worked...

Advantages: A good drive and reasonably priced Disadvantages: Seagate
...storage area, this has a large capacity of 2 meg which is ample for all of that memory swapping.
Most Drives have between 512k to 1 meg but this gives so much more.
They operate quietly and smoothly compared to the older, noisy Seagate range. a bonus in any PC. No more grinding and clicking.
Installation was simple as with any hard drive.
Just remember to format it when you first use it. Oh, and a DOS partition first if you are going to put an Operation System on. FDISK!
Value? There are cheaper drives around. In fact there is a cheaper Seagate range with the same size drive but I would not reccomend them. They are slower and tend to grind.
At £90 from Special Reserve, its a bargain. From Some online shops you can find it for as little as £70 now.
My first review in a month. Enjoy the read folks!...
